DinerLuxe in New Milford, CT, is a shining gem that perfectly blends nostalgic Americana with modern culinary flair, earning it a well-deserved 5 stars. Recently reopened on December 30, 2024, under the stewardship of original owners Peter and Dino Serroukas, this family-owned diner at 108 Danbury Road welcomes guests with a vibrant, retro-inspired atmosphere that feels like stepping into a 1950s time capsule—complete with chrome accents, a classic soda counter, and framed photos of icons like Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe. The exterior, inspired by a 1957 Chevy Bel Air, is an eye-catching landmark along Route 7 that immediately sets the tone for a delightful dining experience.
The menu is a standout, offering an expansive selection of Greek and Italian classics, seafood, steaks, and breakfast favorites, all made from scratch with fresh ingredients. During my visit, I savored the Santa Fe Wrap, a flavorful medley of scrambled eggs, avocado, tomato, and Monterey Jack cheese, served with a zesty side of salsa that was perfectly balanced. My companion opted for the Melba French Toast, a decadent creation layered with cream cheese and raspberry sauce, topped with powdered sugar—every bite was a sweet, indulgent treat. The addition of acai bowls, inspired by the owners’ daughter Melina, is a thoughtful touch, with proceeds supporting Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, adding heart to an already exceptional menu.
Service was impeccable, with friendly and attentive staff who made us feel like family from the moment we walked in. Our server, Nicole, was quick to offer recommendations and ensured our meal arrived hot and promptly. The diner’s commitment to the community is evident, from hiring local high school students to sourcing ingredients from nearby farms and markets. The spacious booths, spotless dining area, and vibrant ambiance make it ideal for families, friends, or solo diners looking for comfort food with a modern twist.
DinerLuxe’s dessert case is a spectacle of its own, boasting towering cakes and pies like baklava cheesecake and cannoli cake that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Paired with a creamy milkshake from the soda counter, it’s the perfect way to cap off a meal. Open daily from 7 AM to 10 PM, DinerLuxe delivers on its promise of fresh, high-quality food and warm hospitality. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-time visitor, this diner is a must-visit destination in New Milford that captures the heart of classic American dining with a fresh, local flair. I can’t...
Read moreWhile I can’t speak to the original ownership as I’m still relatively new to the area, I thoroughly enjoy having a quality diner right down the road.
After a fun day trip, a friend and I were craving burgers but wanted to grab a bite to eat locally. At DinerLuxe, we received quality service, a retro atmosphere, and delicious comfort food to end our day.
We went on a Friday afternoon, so I can’t speak to normal traffic or wait times, say on a weekend. The diner was relatively empty, but that didn’t impact the service we received.
I ordered an Avocado BLT burger. I was pleased that the meat was cooked, the bacon was crisp, and all of the toppings, along with the burger were ample. My fries had a nice balance between crunchy and soft, and I also enjoyed all the accoutrements (coleslaw, a pickle, etc) that came with a burger. As a side note, my friend order the sweet potato fries with her meal which were also delicious!
The waiter was attentive, provided plenty of napkins, and was patient as we were picking out a dessert go home with.
As a small birthday treat for myself, we added on a slice of cheesecake with strawberries which was DIVINE!
To make one note, prices for this local diner seemed a tad high. My friend and I paid $52 (not including tip) for two burgers, one soda, and a slice of cheesecake. Given the quality of the food and ample portions, we were more than happy when finished, but generally diners are supposed to be a more “affordable option.”
Regardless, I’m happy I found a great restaurant in DinerLuxe and can’t wait to go back and try their...
Read moreWe’ve had a very good experience here a few weeks ago so we were disappointed to have such a terrible server today. He was rude when we would ask for things he forgot. We politely asked for the marinara he forgot for our mozzarella sticks (that would have fit on the plate) we were rudely told he “only had two hands.” Then he proceeded to forget the sauce again so over ten minutes later we had to ask again. The sticks were cold by the time we finally got the sauce. Then our main meals took over 30 minutes to come out. We were there around 12 noon and the restaurant was pretty dead. Our five year old asked him why it took so long for our food, and he rudely told our five year old “that’s what happens when you order a dinner meal when we’re prepped for breakfast.” It’s a diner, and at that point it was well after 12pm. (Our receipt says we paid at 12:38pm.) I don’t think we’ve ever had worse service at a restaurant. We never complain and we always tip well, this was the first time we ever tipped based off of service and only left $5. We had unfortunately won’t be back, we don’t want to risk ever having him as a server again.
The server didn’t tell us his name but our receipt...
