A very Odd Place because it's really charming and it's near the water and there's good music being played and the muffaletta sandwich was ok go rather to the old Central Grocery Store where that sandwich was invented for the real authentic one), the espresso was hot, and the beignet that we had was pretty hot and tasty. But the place suffers because of the attitude of the staff. There is kind of a culture of service in New Orleans where some people simply despise tourists and cannot smile nor say good morning or good afternoon. I wish the owners of these places realized how that bad Vibe ruins the entire experience. Perhaps you don't like your job and I understand, but why be so unkind to other people. We all have jobs and we all work hard and we all try to make other people's lives more pleasant in some way, and just a simple smile or good morning, welcome to the cafe, would do wonders. This is the sort of place where you simply don't see that kind of openness or warmth on any sustainable scale. Mind you there was one bartender there who was very kind and very friendly and I thank him for his vibe.
As a place to sit listen to some music of one kind or another and have a cup of coffee it's pretty darn good but the absence of a smile will...
Read moreWhenever you are in New Orleans you have to partake in some Beignets, luckily for me there were a few options by the hotel. The space was very aesthetically pleasing, it was really big with plenty of seats. There was a live band and a singer, the vibes were immaculate! We did not have too much interaction with staff, it was cafeteria style. We stood in line and ordered our food and a runner brought it out to us. Everyone I came in contact with was pleasant and helpful. For food we had french toast, crawfish omelette, and of course the world famous beignets! The french toast was made with french bread so it wasn't the usual Texas toast I am used to, it was soft and sweet I thoroughly enjoyed it. Crawfish omelette was delightful too, it had a ton of flavor and came with grits and french bread on the side. Unfortunately the dark cloud in this entire experience were the beignets. I was extremely disappointed not only for myself but the friend I was with never had them and it was a terrible experience. The beignets just were not baked thoroughly. It was like eating raw dough almost, that has never happened before hopefully that is not something that...
Read moreTried beignets for the first time and am sad I don’t live closer to have them more often. Our Lyft driver recommended we go to Cafe Beignet because it was cleaner and less crowded than Cafe Du Mond. The restaurant was definitely clean and the beignets were out of this world delicious. Tiny little fried pillows of goodness covered in powdered sugar. The first day we went there was no line and the food came quickly. The second day we went for breakfast and while there was no line there were a lot of service issues and the restaurant was crowded. We received someone else’s order 2 minutes into sitting down and people all over the restaurant were receiving wrong orders or not receiving all their food. The chicken salad sandwich was very tasty and the vanilla lattes are excellent. We stopped back later to grab croissants and they were incredibly disappointing as they were almost cake like they were so dense. Overall the beignets are delicious but definitely some...
