So disappointed! Went here based on the stellar reviews, but was let down. I had a cappuccino, which was made out of an instant machine. It left much to be desired. I also had the almond croissant, ham and cheese croissant, savory brioche, and egg sandwich. The croissants were flakey with nice flavor. The brioche’s mix ins were not evenly distributed, so a few bites had a very concentrated onion flavor, others cheese. This pastry would have been better if it was possible to blend the flavors. I do not recommend this. The egg sandwich was bland. I had egg (only whites??), pepper jack, and the two sauces on onion bread. Bland bland bland. This may be one of the worst sandwiches I’ve had.

On a separate note, the service was slow. I waited 15 minutes for a breakfast sandwich. 15 minutes. There was no one ahead of me. Also, there was only one woman working the front. So she waited on one person at a time and then got items. Then, did that again. They need more servers.

Lastly, be careful in the bathroom. Uneven flooring, low ceiling, and weird sized steps. Also, they should put in a changing table...

The coffee was pretty good for Joe - which is what I mostly drink, so that's not at all meant as a criticism. The laminated pastries were light and flaky, as they should be. My bagel and filling was served almost dangerously hot (again, that's not a criticism) and, when cool enough to eat, was delicious: The bagel had a good amount of chew. The place is a bit of a warehouse, but cool and shady on a hot day and I could talk to my wife without shouting, which is always nice. I don't think any baking is done on site, and despite pictures of artisan breads and baguettes on the walls there was no evidence of any to buy - they sell snack breads, scones, cookies and pastries together with a wide selection of drinks, for consumption on or off the premises. I would certainly come back if I'm...

I don't know how it is normally but when we went they were out of everything - quiche, chicken, spinach, sourdough bread - well actually every type of bread except rye (supposedly). Everything I could eat was sold out so I tried to simply get granola & yogurt so I could just put something on my stomach to avoid medical issues but it wasn't "brunch" time so they COULDN'T/WOULDN'T put that together either, even considering there was pretty much nothing else left. Well later I did see a different kind of bread come out besides rye, yet I was told I had to have a grilled cheese on rye bread. Very unhelpful - actually staff was completely oblivious to how...

This cafe is located in a quite street in Garden District. It is surrounded by beautiful mansions and homes of the area. A convenient location to fuel up before or after your walking tour for this neighborhood. The pastries are quite fresh and tasteful. They do have some unusual croissant flavors such as feta and spinach, caramel sea salt. Feta and spinach reminds one the Mediterranean boreks. They are flaky and savory very good combination. We will stop by again when visiting this part of the town

I really wanted to like Gracious Bakery. I pass it all the time on the streetcar and from the outside it looks really inviting. The food is good and the atmosphere is not bad. Unfortunately the service is nonexistent. The two staff members mostly stay hidden, which is likely best. If they have received any training it is not apparent. No greeting of clients or any acknowledgment they are present. I never heard a thank you to any client in the time I was there. Not a very gracious bakery.
