Hey! Café — Restaurant in New Orleans

I miss the heck out of this place. I didn’t join the Hey! Cafe bandwagon until they moved a few blocks from me in Broadmoor, but when they did, my husband and I became regulars. It was always a magical experience of neighborhood friendliness and experiencing the most delicious coffee, roasted locally and freshly. We had a standing date here every Friday morning before work.

Fast forward to moving back to Florida to be near family, and I find myself DECRYING no local and delicious coffee shops within a ten minute DRIVE of me. So hubby bought a Breville espresso maker so we can have our own “shop” with a total of 3 regulars (me, him, and his mom). Now that he has the process down, our setup is complete with our very own 5lb bag of Hey! Cafe. It’s a dream come true. Thank you for shipping us a little box of New Orleans because we indeed know what it means to miss...

The barista with the braided pig tails is AWFUL. She was clearly bothered by ANY question and poured simple syrup in my coffee when I asked about sweetener. Too many coffee shops to bother with her unhappy presence. My friend that joined me was very disappointed when she showed up, because she has already had a run-in with this barista at the other location. The barista actually tried to school my friend on what simple syrup was, argued about the fact my friend wanted granulated and still never got an answer about sweetener options....

I haven’t had a latte this perfect in a long time, and that’s saying something, because I drink a lot of lattes. Also ordered a house-made biscuit with egg and cheese, which was one of the best I’ve ever had. The biscuit was not small, friends, and there was some kind of slightly spicy special sauce that pulled it all together. Nice server, great...
