Pros: Great atmosphere, tasty drinks. Good views of the city, pool can be crowded but is usually clean and has a good ledge to sit/lay on. A few seating options in the shade, restrooms are nice and easily accessible. Neutrals: Food is good, although a little junk food-esque, and pricey (hot dog with packaged chips, burger, pizza, etc. The better options like the fish tacos are so stingey on the fish and come with no side, so you need to order something else if you're actually trying to eat a lunch). They don't cut people off the way they should, so if you're trying to get fully wasted this is a pro, if you are annoyed with the drunken, sloppy people falling over themselves, dropping things, screaming and killing your buzz, it can be annoying. We had a great waitress but she cleared our drinks and plates every time we went into the pool, so our $12 half-full drinks were annoyingly gone when we returned. We even had a full plate of food get cleared. Attentive, but...chill. Hopefully this is an innocent mistake and not their way of racking up people's tabs. Cons: Hipster attitude, overpriced food and drink, and Fri-Sun it's a $20 cover for non hotel guests, but that cover does not guarantee that you can use a lounger or stay. It used to be a $20 tab, which is reasonable, and you could easily fill that up with two of their overpriced-but-cool-so-OK-fine drinks, let alone any of the food selections. Now it's a cover charge plus your bar tab. Even though there were six girls in our party who spent about $100 each (which is more than the price of a room, btw, perhaps we should have just done that), we were still charged $120 in cover fees and then treated like second class citizens. If you insist on charging a cover, then that should be the equalizer, and once someone has paid they should not then immediately be kicked out of the main form of seating/moved to the side/sneered down upon, especially after purchasing more at the bar. OR, have the place be free for locals, and then kick them off the chairs for hotel guests. That's fair. But to charge a cover, overcharge for drinks and small plates, and THEN still kick those paying customers out with a snotty attitude....terrible business model. Ace needs to realize that in a town like New Orleans, once the locals hate you,...

Do not pay for day pass and DEFINITELY do not pay for chairs as we did. When greeted it took time to find our reservation. We were told to sit anywhere we could find. There were no open seats and we were told they would make room for us. We went to the bar and got some drinks. When we returned to the host stand we were greeted as if we had just arrived. We reminded him that someone needed to find us a seat and they started the process again. Other guests without reservations were asked to move. Two more comfortable seats were vacated at the same time and we were told we could sit there. About 30 minutes later those guests returned and we were made to get up and wait for them to eject two more guests. It took an hour and a half to finally be seated. For the majority of the time, the pool had 75 to 100 people in it and there was no room for more. Eventually it thinned out and were were able to go in. The water, however, was extremely cloudy and dense, enough so that you could not see your feet. The setting was beautiful and could have been a great time but was definitely not inviting enough...

I LOVED the atmisphere and layout of this place, but the service was not good. We were greeted by a very nice hostess, but each waitress we dealt with after was kind of annoyed/rude when dealing with us. The moment we walked in we were told we only had five minutes to order food even though they were going to be open for 2 more hours, but the waitresses were no where to be found. We had to hunt one waitress down who seemed annoyed about us ordering food since the kitchen was going to be closing soon. Then once we ordered it took forever for our next waitress to check in with us and bring us our drinks. Then any time we asked her for anything she seemed to act annoyed. We asked for a knife and a napkin and she never brought it to us. She also failed to tell us that there was going to be a $22 charge added to our bill if we didn’t sign the receipt - which thank god we asked if we needed to. Just the overall service was not good. I would not come back to eat here even though the food...

Visiting from northern Canada, lunch at Alto was a highlight of the trip. Gorgeous rooftop bar with both pool lounge chairs and a few bistro tables. We visited around the lunch hour so it wasn't crazy busy, but with the cool vibe and hip atmosphere, I suspect it gets much busier throughout the day/night. They have a great menu to enjoy with equally great music alongside the beautiful pool. We ordered the eternal summer cocktail, hummus with veg/pita, a mixed salad, and caprese panini with chips. Staff were friendly and laid back but service took a looong time. Confusion in the kitchen or something but hummus arrived after we were finished eating and they didn't really come by to check on the meal or refill water. That being said, the food and atmosphere are wonderful, I would both recommend and definitely go back the next time I visit.

So, I'm not mad at this place. We came here for Happy Hour on a Thursday. Perfect weather for a rooftop bar and pool. The Palomas were delicious. I believe they were only 6 dollars. Before happy hour started, I had a Bloody Mary. I'd definitely order another if I go back. The happy hour Fish Tacos... when they were brought to me, we all laughed. You literally get a tiny piece of fish. For Alto, invest on the smaller tortillas! The pieces of fish will look bigger on a smaller tortilla. They were definitely tasty though. The music was hard to hear. The volume could have been a little louder. From what we did hear... definitely not "rooftop bar" music. It seemed very mellow. If that's what you're into then you'd enjoy it. We wanted music you can dance to or music that makes you dance in your seat or even sing to.

OMG LOVE this place! Everything from the entrance to the lobby bar to the rooftop patio is so cute! The views are more of the ‘inner city’- meaning between the high rises, and you can only see it at certain parts of the patio that you sit. But the views outside the rooftop isn’t going to be your main focus because between the pool, the garden and the lounge chairs the whole deck is a roof garden of paradise. They do have space heaters near the bar, but if it’s still too cold, the downstairs bar is also a great indoor garden! We just saw it through passing but I wouldn’t mind having a drink there.
