My husband, adult daughter, and I just stayed at the Drury for 5 nights a week ago. Overall, it was a very nice stay. We usually opt for AirBnB's but we were in New Orleans for Jazzfest and wanted to stay close to one of the shuttle bus stops. |The hotel itself is situated in an ideal location, just a 10 -15 minute walk to the French Quarter and Bourbon Street, and a CVS and Rouse's Market three blocks away around the corner. We did not rent a car but walked and used Uber/Lyft. We made use of the pool, hot tub, and exercise room, as well as the coin operated laundry. The washer and dryer both take $2 in quarters, which you can get from the front desk but you must give them cash as they won't take credit card or charge to your room. There is a detergent dispenser for $1.50. |The included breakfast was good for a hotel breakfast, better than Residence Inn but not as good as Embassy Suites. Every morning, they had the same foods - scrambled eggs (I think they were real), sausage patties, biscuits, homefried potatoes, waffle and pancake makers, breads, cereals, oatmeal, apples and bananas. They have a microwave which was nice since the food wasn't very hot. I was wishing for cut fruit and plain greek yogurt. My husband would have loved peanut butter for his english muffin. The coffee was hot and pretty good. After eating this for 3 days we were pretty sick of it and went to Mother's down Poydras which is a New Orleans institution and very good. We did go to the "kickback" a couple times during our stay, but mostly enjoyed the drinks. We did grab a little food to snack on but didn't use it as an actual dinner. Make sure to bring some cash to use for tips when you get your drinks. The free popcorn doesn't start until 4pm, which was only a little disappointing as we thought it was an all day thing. We had one meal at the bar area one evening when we got back too late for the kickback. It was very confusing as the bartender was not friendly and it took a minute for us to realize we have to go up to the bar to get a menu, then order and pay there. The food was ok. The pizza tasted like frozen pizza. The buffalo chicken salad was really good as was the hamburger.|The front desk staff was not particularly friendly and as I said the bartender wasn't either, but everyone else was. The folks working at breakfast were very kind and sweet. The housekeeping staff always smiled and greeted us.|We stayed in a one bedroom suite which had two queen beds and in the living room there was a sleep sofa. The living room was quite large but only had a desk with chair, the sofa, and the tv. There should have been a love seat as well as a bistro table with a couple chairs. We got some fried chicken from Gus's (highly recommend) and it was a little awkward to eat it. The entire place could use...
Read moreMy wife always does the research for rooms when we are traveling. We normally stay at a Hampton, but we thought we would give the Drury a shot... and GLAD we did!! Check in was easy, no hassle of any kind. Parking garage was a Great Plus to our stay knowing that our car was inside and safe, since we planned on riding the street cars while in town. Security in general was a big plus! Your key is needed to enter the building or garage at all times, plus needed to make the elevator work. I have always been concerned with the electronic keys not working, but ours worked great the entire time. Breakfast is always a plus for us... and they did not cut short! Each morning they had fresh scrambled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits, gravy, breakfast potatoes, pancakes with hot syrup, danish and fruit; plus other healthy choices if that's your thing. Coffee, juice and soft drinks were also available. We were most impressed with the Management being in the dining area each morning. They were talking to the guest while bussing and cleaning tables! If you ask for something, they went and got it... not sent someone after it! I have always said that good workers start with the management and this proves it!! I was also impressed when a customer came down for breakfast with his dog, we don't travel with dogs, but again if that's your thing... Anyway, the manager saw him and went quickly to meet him before he came into the dining room. The manager told the tenant that pets were not allowed in the dining room, then offered to either hold the dog while he fixed his breakfast or that he would go and fix whatever the man wanted. Again, great management!! Our room was very comfortable and the temp was easy to maintain. Plenty of hot water, and it gets to the tap fast with great pressure. Only 2 complaints... not much to watch on TV and the view from our window was the backside of the building next door. Neither of these mattered too much to us since we didn't come to NOLA to look out the window nor watch TV. So if the window is important, make that note when booking. Our request was to NOT be close to the elevator, and they fulfilled that with no questions. Our room was nice and quiet. Upon check out, I noticed we had been charged twice for parking. We mentioned it to the clerk, and she instantly refunded the over charge. Most likely a mistake in the system, but easily corrected. We also talked with the clerks at the desk each morning picking their mind for interesting things to do. They were very helpful with directions and showing us around on the map. All in All, our stay could not have been better!! Should we be back in the area, we will be right back here!! I do recommend...
Read moreThis was our first time staying at Drury Hotel and although when we initially try to book via their Reservations (not directly the hotel) the lady we spoke was kind of rude because we were asking so many questions and thats because we haven’t stayed at this hotel ever, we’re a little bit disappointed about that but we’re so happy that we still booked the room. We had the two room two queen beds suite ( the two rooms meant one living room and one bedroom with a door). We went during our kids spring break March and since February we’ve been looking for a good rating hotel and we can hardly find a hotel with a decent review. The rooms are clean, the staff I mean ALL the STAFF was friendly there are times during dinner that we saw the manager and he will greet you with a smile. Housekeepers are also nice and friendly. Staff from the breakfast and dinner are super nice and sweet, when they ran out of coffee the gentleman walk to our table and told us that the coffee will be ready in 4min I mean it feels like home because all the staff treats you like family, with respect and not someone who just pays to stay at the hotel. The front desk are very helpful if you need anything they’ll send it right away. The pool area is heated and ALSO CLEAN. They served not only breakfast but also dinner and if you’re like us traveling with 4 kids we’ll be lucky if the hotel serves breakfast but a hotel that also serves dinner wowww we hit the jackpot, not only that the kids get free soda and popcorn I believe all day…it just keeps coming. It was also pretty close to the french quarter but not close enough to hear all the noise and crowds. One thing I can say is that this was our first stay at Drury Hotel and we dont want to stay elsewhere when looking for a hotel to stay elsewhere. We our Drury Hotel guests for life after this experience!!!! Kudos to everyone, all the employees you dont know how all your hardwork affects other peoples lives. It was a beautiful experience for my whole family!!!! Thank you 100...
