By high recommendation (and after viewing their incredible menu) we reserved a dinner at K-Pauls for the last night of our trip. The atmosphere is light and everyone seemed to be enjoying their time. Our waiters name was Justin and upon suggestion, we began with a delicious cocktail that they had recently concocted. I believe it was called the Burbon Mule. Highly recommend!!!! Shortly after, a delicious array of breads came to the table. The favorite was the carrot bread with raisins. My husband enjoyed them so much that they gave us a goodie bag of them to go. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that they offered Fried Green Tomatoes (always wanted to try them since I saw the movie). On the menu it is called Fried Green Tomatoes with Shrimp Caper Dill Remoulade. They were as delicious as I hoped they would be. For the main entree I had the Eggplant Pirogue with Seafood Atchafalaya. This was equally delicious. We couldn't get over the portion sizes. We really wanted to try a dessert but couldn't find the room. The food was incredible. The staff were excellent. We had an amazing time and will definately go to K-Pauls again!!!!!!

Absolutely five stars from beginning to end. The food and service were top notch and the atmosphere was classy but casual. Claudia our server went the extra effort making for a very nice dinner. My husband ordered the Cajun martini and yes it was spicy, but he loved it. The bread basket won my heart with carrot pecans muffins, corn bread muffins, and fresh baked rolls with one being jalapeño! Hate to admit it, but we at all of them! We started with the roasted Gouda cheese sausage with creole sauce and had the Caesar salad and the roasted pear, pecan and bleu cheese salad. For my entree I had the blackened beef tenders and my husband had the salmon. Both cooked to perfection exactly how we asked them be prepared. Sadly we had no room for dessert, but would have ordered the bread pudding it looked delicious. K Paul’s is definitely a place you must visit while in NOLA. Jackets are not required.

By most accounts, Chef Prudhomme was a fantastic chef who innovated a number of dishes that have become New Orleans mainstays. However, my trip to the restaurant he founded that perseveres after his passing did not leave me as impressed as I thought I should have. To be sure, I have insane respect for Prudhomme's legend, and his introduced the "blackening" method of meat preparation to the world when he was once a young chef at Commander's Palace. But this gloopy stuffed pork chop I ordered at K-Paul's was not very good. It was a comfort dish (I knew what I was ordering), but uninspiring and no different than what I'd expect to find at a place like the Cheesecake Factory. I would recommend any number of restaurants over K-Paul's (at their price point), which is not to say it was bad -- but rather that it falls short of the level of quality that can be attained elsewhere in the French Quarter.

I have been waiting to eat at K-Paul's for decades now, and I have to tell you the experience was absolutely wonderful! My wife and I wanted to end our last night in New Orleans with a good meal, and K-Paul's did not disappoint. First, the ambiance of the restaurant is old-world charming, and the service was excellent! Our waiter's name was Cameron, and he was attentive without being overbearing, while also providing my wife and I with excellent service.

The food was also excellent in every way. K-Paul's changes their menu everyday because they use absolutely fresh ingredients. The kitchen does not have a freezer because the ingredients are picked from local markets, and it truly shows in the dishes. For example, the bread we ate was a basket containing a variety of fresh-baked rolls: Jalapeño Cheddar rolls, traditional yeast rolls, corn muffins, and the most delightful sweet carrot muffins. This alone would have been worth the trouble.

For my appetizer, I had the Turtle Soup, a New Orleans tradition, which was hearty and spicy: The broth tasted like a slow-cooked Cajun meat sauce with tender Turtle that melted in my mouth. For our main course, my wife had the Shrimp Etouffee, which tasted exactly like good homestyle cooking: A deep and well-cooked roux that held the flavor of of Louisiana deep in its soul. I had the famous Blackened Drum, topped with lump crab meat and a Cajun seasoned butter that complemented the flavor of the blackening spice perfectly. My dinner also contained nicely whipped potatoes and a vegetable medley of squash, carrots, and peppers that were all cooked to precision and well-flavored. For dessert we had the Custard Marie, K-Paul's version of a crème brûlée, which contained a praline on the bottom. The custard was creamy and the sugar on top was candied with expertise. All together, from appetizer to dessert, there was not a flavor out of place.

My wife and I both enjoyed our time at K-Paul's, and quite honestly we cannot wait until we can return to New Orleans just to eat there again. New Orleans is a city rich in history, and depending on who you talk to, it is filled haunted with ghosts. Well one thing is for sure: The spirit of Paul Prudhomme lives on in K-Paul's today, watching over his delicious recipes and ensuring that his...

Walked in for dinner after being on the road for 3 hrs. The restaurant was busy and the front desk service was not helpful at all. We had a party of 5 and was told they weren't taking anyone without reservations until 830pm it was 745/8 pm. A couple walked in after and we told then what we were instructed when they asked about the wait. The lady said to book on open table to get reservations since they were not letting walk ins be seated and there were 830 time slots. The front desk didn't even suggest this to us. The lady booked hers and was seated at 820. I booked a table of 4 and asked if they can add another chair or if I should book a separate table since there were 830 time slots available for different table sizes under 5. The lady at the podium went to check with the manager I'm assuming the older lady was and was trying to get us a 845 time with a table that held all 5 of us. The older lady was rude and unfriendly and said no 9pm nothing earlier. Keep in mind there were 3 other slots with different table sizes that she could have just given us 1 chair to accommodate our table. The older lady was nicer to the other people that walked I after I agreed to the 9pm time I don't know if it's due to the other people being older Europeans dressed fancy and we are an African American family with kids that came straight from the road in casual attire. There were no other kids in the restaurant at the time. She didn't even smile at me when I spoke to her and was so blunt with an irritated look on her face. Shame since my dad had eaten at this establishment many times over the years and we were looking foward to trying it. Just on the corner we were stopped by a wonderful hostess for Pierre Maspero's and was seated right away and treated so respectfully by the staff. K Paul's should take notes from Pierre staff on how to...

Locals here. We were seated upstairs (I didn't even know there was an upstairs) which is not nearly as nice of an atmosphere as the downstairs section, so that was a little disappointing. We were celebrating a promotion - which I had told the restaurant upon booking - but they didn't really do or say anything, which again, was disappointing. Given the nature of the dinner, we wanted to take our time and enjoy a 3-course meal, but we felt incredibly rushed by the waiter - to the point that he kept trying to take away my appetizer even though I repeatedly told him I was still working on it. He even went so far as to have my main meal delivered to the table with my appetizer still in front of me (unfinished), which I find totally unacceptable by any dining standard, let alone one which considers itself upscale. I will say that my food was pretty great - I had the fried green tomatoes and flounder. My husband wasn't impressed with his, however. He had the gumbo to start and the beef tenders as a main - the beef was basically rare even though he had requested medium rare. Since it was covered in sauce he didn't feel it could be sent back to cook longer. The main issue with our dinner really was the service though. It felt like our waiter hovered over us all evening long and was extremely aggravated by us wanting to take our time. It's worth noting that we were late diners (we were sat at 8:15) and the restaurant was by no means full at that time, so his mannerism couldn't even be explained as wanting to flip our table for guests after us. Really kind of put a damper on what was supposed to be a...
