Worst dining experience I’ve ever had in New Orleans. We showed up at 9:33 PM for a 930 reservation that we made on open table because this had been one of our absolute favorite restaurants at one time. We were greeted at the door by a man with a very angry tone, who I can only assume was the manager, that proceeded to snap at us that he had no showed us for showing up at 9:33 for a 9:30 PM reservation on a Friday night. When I rightfully pointed out that we were pretty much on time and then most places give you a grace period of at least 10 to 15 minutes he became more agitated and angry and started to berate us for not calling and for booking the reservation at 9 PM in the first place. Again we arrived at 9:33 for a 930 reservation. Clearly the issue was they did not want to serve anybody else that night and wanted to close down and go home and used this as an excuse to treat us poorly.
Eventually, after I got tired of him talking to us in such an angry antagonistic tone simply because they did not want a late table and therefore we’re going to ruin our night and our dining experience because of their laziness, I finally gave back to him everything he deserved. In this day and age, with everything that’s going on with coronavirus I am stunned anybody return away customers, especially frequent patrons. Until tonight, Ralph’s used to be one of our favorite places, but I will never set foot in that restaurant again even though we have patronized it several times in the last few years.
If you don’t want people to be able to book a reservation at 9 PM for 930 then don’t open yourself up for those reservations. Close an hour earlier. But don’t take it out on us when we show up on time just because you don’t want to work or stay open that late.
This will easily go down as the worst dinner experience of my life, not just because they didn’t seat us, but because of the incredibly arrogant, antagonistic, argumentative tone we were greeted with at the door. At least be courteous if you’re going to ruin our dinner. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone after the way we were treated after being loyal patrons for...

Had lunch at Ralph’s on the Park. My friend (non-vegan) made the reservation and was told they could prepare some vegan items with reservations. It was very disappointing as the items were basically me playing “pull a part the menu”. I know it’s a nice brunch place and people don’t come here for the salads, but can we visit how sad that berry salad is?
Berry salad minus the goat cheese. Would leaving the goat cheese on it have suddenly freshen up the salad?
Salmon avocado toast minus the salmon. I didn’t look at the bill but I certainly hope we weren’t charged full price for that. The avocado that came on it is quite average. If you were to get the same item that includes the salmon I would say put the avocado on the side so you can appreciate the salmon texture on the toast.
Vegetable medley. That’s the special vegan item they came up with. That’s the most creative that a chef at a popular brunch spot could manage to throw together with all of the tools and ingredients in his kitchen. I mean yeah I know he’s not on chopped or top chef, but I feel in this day and age if you can’t creatively come up with something then are you a chef? So what is the vegetable medley? It’s zucchini, bell peppers, broccoli, and mushrooms stir fried in maybe some salt. Don’t get me wrong I love a good vegetable stir fry, but I truly did expect some more creativity.
I say all of that to express my frustration that they were not experienced or equipped in creating a better vegan spread. Yes we could throw some edible things together, just doesn’t cut it. I would’ve been perfectly fine had they said no. I would actually respect them saying “we don’t accommodate vegans here” and we would’ve chosen somewhere else to eat.
Should I have sent the dishes back? No. My friend invited me out for my birthday lunch and it was more important to me to have good company and not ruin the mood than to send my food back. I write this to share my experience here with other vegans on the off chance they were considering eating here. If you do end up here as a vegan I sincerely hope your food experience is much...
Read moreI really want to leave two reviews, one for the service and ambience and one for the food. The service was fantastic. We were having a very small wedding shower at the restaurant and the server and manager couldn't have been nicer. They accommodated my request for dessert and were very attentive to our needs the who,e time we were there. Ralph's is a great place for things like this. They have rooms you can use for more privacy but with only 8 people the main restaurant was perfect. Our waiter was quite content letting us sit and open the few presents we had and we never once felt rushed to get up from our table. Very fun atmosphere and wonderful staff. Now the food. The majority of the table had the crawfish Benedict. This dish is exactly as the name implies. This dish should have been outstanding. Tangy hollandaise and spicy crawfish on one of their delicious biscuits. Sadly it was not. First of all the food was barely warm, bordering on cold. The grilled veggies, which were the side, were cold. There was no seasoning whatsoever on the crawfish and the hollandaise had no taste at all. I was really disappointed. The corned beef hash was warm and the small bite I had was good. It's not your typical hash. The corned beef were cubes of corned beef not shredded like in a hash. That didn't make it any better or worse just different. Their biscuits were DELICIOUS. Warm and flaky and with just that hint of saltiness that makes for the best biscuits. They were light and fluffy and even though they looked as if they might be dense they were not. I wish I had just ordered a plate of biscuits for my brunch. The bottomless mimosas were well ladled with champagne and they were definitely not stingy with the refills. My glass was always full. If your a coffee drinkers, they serve a French press, not just a cup. I had decaf and was not impressed with it. It was very bitter and no amount of cream could help it. I would have preferred just a good old cup of New Orleans Java. No need to serve fancy French press when you already have some of the...
