They don't tell you about the parking when you book, the information arrives later in an email which goes to your spam folder. $45 TO PARK YOURSELF, TWO BLOCKS AWAY, IN UNSECURED PARKING. We arrived, late check-in, at 130am. I made the last minute reservation the night before, and recieved an email stating my total, to be collected at check-in, and that my card wouldn't be charged until check-in. We needed late check-in due to an emergency medical appointment that came up, in new orleans, for the next day, and we'd be traveling 5 hours to get to the room. The email stated to call and confirm check-in time, so I did, before we even left for our trip. I was told that they would hold our room until 2am, and I said we'd be there by then. As soon as I hung up I recieved a text message alert that my card had been charged for the reservation, even though the email said it wouldn't be charged until arrival. Sketchy. They charged our card and said our reservation was only secure until 2am. Since we were charged for the room, ans check out isn't until 11 the next day, then why would they only hold our room til 2am. Upon arrival we noted graffiti and broken windows and doors to the building, as well as homeless and vagrants on the immediate sidewalk to only door that wasn't broke. I called the hotel to ask where we were supposed to park and was told we must park ourselves, two blocks away, and it's an additional $45 to do so. $45 to park ourselves??? When we found the parking area, it was literally nothing more than spray painted lines in an unsecured open garage area. We were given a list of spots that were supposed to be open/available, and most of them were not open or available, and when we called for assistance I was told "ma'am, I don't know how the area is set up." We parked in the only available spot that was on the list we were given, but there were no parking signs all around it. I took a picture just to be safe. At 2am, we parked and had to walk back to the hotel, through homeless camps and tents. Furthermore, and additional $50 was charged for a deposit. So the the email i received stating "total charges," was a lie, and there was two more charges upon arrival. $143 total charges for the room, turned out to be $238 by the time it was all done. I understand the $50 refundable deposit, BUT it should have been calculated with the total cost amount. I do not understand the $45 fee for parking, especially when we had to park ourselves and it was so complicated. The room was okay, at best, it was clean, but there were locked closets that led who knows where or to what, and there was a skylight that had been taped over with some sort of black tape that gave an uneasy feeling. There is a window in the shower that has some of those wood blinds, that didn't fully close so anyone on the street could see you showering if they happened to look up there. The chief complaint is that the air conditioning didn't seem to work, neither of the two thermostats made a difference and we laid there sweating all night. Not to mention the constant noise from the elevator being used all hours of the night and doors being slammed and people yelling upstairs from the bottom floor. We barely slept after arriving at 130am, and we left around 9am, well before check-out time. We did not want to stay any longer than was absolutely necessary. I do not recommend this place, they are not entirely forthcoming or honest in their reservation policy and procedures. Really felt like a scam and it's been over a week and we still have not recieved our refundable deposit, and I took pictures upon leaving, so I know there was no damage. We didn't use the blankets cause the room was so hot, we simply pulled them back so we could lay on the sheet, my 6mo old daughter slept in her bedside soother, and we travel with our own towels, we didnt even use their towels or their toiletries. Do not get scammed. It was awful. Picture added of the parking you pay for, with "no parking," signs posted all around the spots.

Total disappointment! I am not sure about the recent positive reviews, but if you look closely you will see many bad reviews that are not that far apart. I think management is getting people to write positive reviews to offset the negative ones. This place is bad and has the quality of a low grad motel. The pictures are deceiving and the rooms are extremely small and in complete neglect. Management and the staff are extremely un hospitable if you encounter any problems. The ac is an extremely old air conditioning system, which is very loud, leaks water, never cools, has very small vents for high ceiling rooms, and also has electrical shortages, which can be heard shutting the unit off and on constantly. Other complaints include very dirty floors- no carpet in rooms- which have not been swept or mopped that stain your socks and feet, one small trash can in the bathroom for the entire room, barely enough room to walk due to the small size of the room yet wasted space right when you walk in, a bathroom with an extremely old shower head that leaks (yet has great water pressure) that will flood the bathroom due to the curtain not fitting in the tub, a toilet and bathtub that is cracking and rusting away, towels that smell and are worn out and super thin, two small bars of soap and two very small bottles of shampoo and conditioner, instead of like other best western properties which have the large pumps of body wash and shampoo in the showers, a very dark room, missing two lightbulbs and also had two burnt bulbs. (if you are not careful, you can stick your hand into a outlet with no lightbulb and electrocute yourself) The elevators at this hotel are extremely old and slow and occasionally jerk. The floors are dirty in the hallways and also smell. Dirty used breakfast trays were left for two days with several staff members, including housekeeping, leaving them there on the furniture outside the elevator. It is obvious that this hotel is in complete neglect and is in serious need of an upgrade and deep cleaning. As far as the staff besides the front office staff, my room was located next to the housekeeping closet on the sixth floor (room 601) and beginning at 8 AM. It was nonstop, slamming and opening of this door, which would make my entire room vibrate from the noise. Avoid any of the 01 rooms. The walls are paper, thin and you can hear everything Your neighbors are doing, and I mean everything, throughout the course of the night. Sloppy drunk, younger kids and marijuana smoking loud guests are what stay at this hotel. Breakfast was completely average yet in a very small space that is crowded. They do not let you serve yourself and they serve the food for you giving you small portions and also treating you as if you are not capable of doing things yourself. The lady, Ms Tish,is condescending with people and treats them as if they are a child. While waiting for my toast and watching the news on the TV, she looked at me and said “do you need help you -look lost” , I abruptly replied no, I am fine. I am waiting on toast which is why I am standing here. I tried to make a joke and say that it is early and sorry if I look half asleep. Her reply was “ I have no sympathy for you, sir because I’ve been at work since 4 AM.” And this is the lady who gets so many good reviews? I have contacted best Western corporate to lodge my complaints and I’m awaiting to hear back. Myself and best Western contacted the hotel after checking out requesting the manager and leaving my phone number. I have yet to hear back from the manager. I do not recommend this hotel. Best western needs to look into this property and perhaps conduct a surprise audit, and they would clearly find that this hotel is not being managed correctly, according to best Western plus standards. Please feel free to look at my pictures that confirm most of my complaints.

||Do not get scammed....

(if you are not careful, you can stick your hand into a outlet with no lightbulb and electrocute yourself)

The elevators at this hotel are extremely old and slow and occasionally jerk.

Please feel free to look at my pictures that confirm most of...
