(Note: Picture is before the biggest let down ever) On Sunday my family and I put our name on a waitlist for brunch & to kill time we decided to check out the bar across the street to get a drink to go and because my husband’s name is Ryan (hence the photo) and we love a good pub we thought…perfect! All the doors on the side were wide open (this place is on a corner) and no signage was displayed saying anything about checking IDs or being 21 and over. So we begin to walk in (by the way my daughter and I were still outside) only to be scolded (Karen style) by the bartender. Her arms flailing in the air and her exact words were: “NOPE! AAAH! NOPE!”…and in the most condescending tone you can imagine. We immediately assumed we missed something and paused and politely started to walk out not knowing we did something wrong. She continued to yell (at the top of her lungs) “21 AND UP! 21 AND UP!” The rest of the patrons are now staring and laughing which as someone who has family from New Orleans and has been more than a handful of times, I have never seen or experienced anything like it. When a bar is off of Bourbon St and near a candy shop for children and literally next to several family-friendly brunch spots, I would think you’d either have a sign OR at the very least have a door closed so it doesn’t feel like an open invitation for all to join. The bartender’s reaction was very much uncalled for and our one and only rude interaction in New Orleans. Not a good look at all and glad we were “kicked out” before even walking all the way in because we ended up at Ruby Slippers and having the best food and drinks. Since pubs are everywhere I highly recommend skipping Ryan’s Pub completely and checking out...

Came in to order shots- however the bartender screamed at my bf for waiting while I used the restroom because we were going to eat and drink after I had an opportunity to relieve myself. She screamed at my partner, forced him (shoving) out of the bar and came in to yell at me twice while I was peeing. (WHILE I WAS PEEING!) She was kicking the door of my stall while I was trying to use the restroom!!!
Her attitude prevented us from even wanting to contribute to helping this place make it. It was solely her attitude that changed our minds about ordering ANYTHING at this terrible place.
We came because we heard about good Irish food and strong drinks but never had the opportunity to sample them due to the rudest bartender I've ever had the displeasure of meeting in my entire wonderful trip to NOLA. She also refused to tell me who was manager on shift and would not tell me who the owner was-after numerous polite requests for the information. If you desire further proof- message me for the video- I recored the ENTIRE incident.
AVOID THIS BAR...
Read moreThe minute we got off the plane. We headed for our destination and right across the street so straight was a beautiful lit's a beautiful little sports bar named Ryan's Irish pub.
Now I have heard reviews on this is to be one of the best Irish pubs outside of Ireland. And it did not disappoint.
I immediately ordered a glass of Guinness. This beer is not for the faint hearted. I fell in love with this beer a long time along time ago. It is rich and creamy A dark coffee color. A properly poured glass has an unmistakable froth on the top of this beautifully bitter dark beer.
My husband got the house Margarita.. We wanted to order lunch order lunch but they don't have a kitchen they were gracious enough to let us order from the neighboring restaurant, sit and enjoy our meal with our drinks.
The service was impeccable and I now understand why it is a neighborhood staple and people keep coming back to this...
