The Old Point Bar is a must experience for every visitor looking for that touch of the French Quarter but in that out of the way spot, that makes it so very special. Located on Historic Algiers Point, and in walking distance of the Canal Street Ferry, Old Point Bar serves both local and the tourist trade. Walking into Old Point Bar one will find a charming mix of memorbilia decorating the walls, a long wood bar with ample seating, as well as seating at tables both inside and outside in milder weather. You will find Old Point staffed by a expert staff of mixoligists, freindly and attentive to all your needs. Old Point opens about noon daily and doors remain open till its time to close, that simply means till the last patron is served, usually the wee hours on weekends. Drinks are excellent, and beer selections are plentiful, prices are very moderate, a ice cool draught being had for as little as $3.50 and for a tourist looking for a break on high priced French Quarter bars, its a must. Old Old Point prides itself on live music throughout the week, where both local and international stars have come to preform. One can also enjoy a game of darts or shoot some pool in the game room. There are two big screen tv's hung over the barr for viewing sporting events. So, don't miss a chance to visit Old Point for a wonderful New Orleans experience. You will never be disappointed with what you find...

The Old Point Bar is a great example of a neighborhood dive bar.

Despite growing up in Algiers, I had never been to this bar. Thanks to my recent trip I got to find what I had been missing all these years.

As I entered I was surprised at the size of the bar. It is fairly large with very high ceilings. There is a very long bar and several tables. There is also a stage and small area behind the stage with a pool table. One odd thing about the bar was that the men's restroom door couldn't be opened all the way. When opening the door it struck the stairway leading to the pool table. I guess this is their way of determining regulars. I obviously was not and when I exited there was a loud thump. Another interesting thing about the bathroom is that they put ice in the urinals. This is a huge plus. If you are a guy, you will enjoy watching the ice melt while you pee.

The bartender was friendly, but service suffered so she could take care of regulars first. As obvious outsiders we had to flag her down to get a drink. I can't hold that against her since if I were a regular, I would expect better service too.

Beer was reasonably priced. There was a decent selection of beers, and drafts were around $3.50.

I enjoyed my time at the Old Point and would gladly come back. If you're in the point and want a casual, neighborhood dive, give Old...

Very cool local place with a lot of history, reasonable drinks, and a great atmosphere. I went on my birthday. I was by myself until the next day had very low expectations of having fun, and just stopped in for a drink and the AC! But everyone there was warm and friendly after a bit of small talk. A few people bought me drinks- well a bit more than a couple and they were generous pours. The very sweet bartender cut me off by handing me a water and saying she couldn't in good conscience serve me any more😁😘. I didn't think at the time that I was all THAT toasty (but probably not the best judge of that). I drank half the water and took my tipsy butt back to the Airbnb without any protest . Let's just say I was extremely grateful the next morning and woke up feeling great! They really do care for their customers and were lovely people. Everything a local...

We live here now! We came to Louisiana for a bachelorette party but stay for the hospitality. From the second our group walked into Old Point, Cassandra made us feel like family. This bar is the real deal. It’s local and friendly, the service is second to none, and we felt like we had a home base where we were safe and protected! Cassandra knows how this works. She knows how to go above and beyond and how to multitask: serving a whole room on her own and quickly. This place was: party friendly (just don’t be rude!), gay friendly, dog friendly, and *she knew it was out friends bachelorette party and even picked up some decor and a bride tiara for her to make sure she was feeling celebrated! The world needs more Cassandra. Reminder: TIP YOUR BARTENDER!

Took the ferry over to Algiers on our recent New Orleans trip- planned to just wander but found this place and decided to check it out- what a treat!! We love a good ā€œdive barā€ with character and history, and this one’s got it! The service was IMPECCABLE *chefs kiss*. Our day shift bartender (I’m sorry I forgot your name!) was a great historian and she recommended some other great establishments to check out, both in Algiers and back across the river too. Algiers itself is a beautiful, peaceful, clean place, and the folks who live there and can stop by the Old Point after work are lucky!!
