I use to frequent the Wakin' Bakin' location uptown before they closed down. After coming to this location, it makes sense now why the other location closed down. There is not a shred of management at these restaurants. I decided to try out this location before a Saints game a few Sundays ago. First off, its about 300 sq ft inside this restaurant, so if you bring a group, make sure they all skinny. And if they ain't skinny when you arrive I can guarantee they will be skinny when you leave this location. Myself and a guest come to this location for a nice breakfast and we were seated. They brought us a small glass of water about the size of a thimble. After that we were never served again for the duration of our visit. We must have sat in that hot, unventilated small room for over 20 minutes. We watched as many people came in behind us and ordered food to-go and were immediately given service. We watched other tables receive food, bills and the ability to place their food orders. Everything about this location is small. I wish I could review the food but I did not make it that far. I ended up leaving and going to a place where I could be served some food. Will never frequent this poorly managed hot box again. Do yourself a favor and skip this disappointing location. It is not what I would call a good New Orleans experience.
(Edit) If you need more proof of how carless and ineffective the management is at this location, just read the response down below from the owner. It looks like it was sent from an AI with zero empathy...
Read moreIncredibly poor service. We waited over an hour for our food to the point that no tables in the entire restautant had food, but they were still churning out takeout orders, and they were not busy when we arrived. Doesn't feel nice to be blatantly snubbed for the takeout orders as a dine-in customer-- not a good business model. We waited an entire hour before inquiring about the meal and were rudely waved off by the hostess. I understand being busy but had we known we'd be an hour in and still not gotten our meals we'd have gone elsewhere. There was obviously a breakdown in the kitchen as the chef was constantly yelling at the staff and once at a customer bold enough to ask a question. And yet still they made uber orders without sending out food to the tables. The two of us had ordered very simple meals of an egg burrito and a breakfast bowl-- breakfast is the fastest meal to cook, and yet no one had food in the entire restaurant. Once our meal finally arrived it was decent (though by that point we'd have eaten anything!) but the poached egg on my bowl was overcooked and hard, and we were so hungry the meals didn't fill us up. We ended up going next door to Mid City Pizza for a slice. I might be willing to give them a shot again but not until they figure out how to treat customers properly and get themselves in order in...
Read more5/19/24: I didn’t get a chance to try the food but the customer service was top notch. The restroom was clean and fully stocked with tissue and hand soap. The seating area inside is a bit quaint but there is also covered seating outside with large fans. Of course, the building is in great New Orleans fashion with the art and wild array of colors! I’ll be back soon to taste the food!
5/20/24: update with food pictures and food review. Bill waited on me and he was a pleasure. I went around 1p so there wasn’t a rush and it was pretty quiet, which I prefer honestly. I tried a light meal, the heart healthy omelette and it came with the Cajun smash hash as a side. It was definitely light as 30 minutes later, I don’t feel bogged down or nauseous. The Cajun smash hash was probably a 6/10 to me but not horrible. The lemonade is half the price of the orange sauce but was a bit too sweet for me..but no worries, I cut it with my water. Also, I ordered some fruit which was fresh and yummy. It came out to $26 and some change and I tipped of course. I highly recommend this place!
Parking is a little tricky in this area because it’s residential but it’s New Orleans so if you’re a local, you already...
