I'll start by saying our server was very kind and attentive. The free bread was honesty the only thing I enjoyed. The appetizers, bruschetta and mussels were average but, the main course was where the biggest disappointment awaited us. We were offered the "8oz filet on special" which we found out was filet mignon when our food arrived and of course did not align with the rest of the menu prices. We had potatoes and broccoli for sides. We received 4 small sprigs of broccolini and the potatoes...I thought they were joking when they sat the potatoes in front of us. The potatoes were cut into large cubes that had zero seasoning added and were overbaked. They could have been used as a projectile. I almost always eat steak when dining out. The filet was cooked to the perfect temperature I requested however, like the potatoes, it completely lacked flavor. The steak was topped with a Gorgonzola sauce which was decent.
The highlight of our evening was receiving the check. When I opened the check, I erupted into uncontrollable laughter. It was either that or cry. I laughed so hard that I excused myself and had to step outside for a bit. When I returned, the manager offered us a 10% discount with no conversation being had.
Overall, the staff was awesome, the...
Read moreAtlantis Bistro at 300 Flagler Ave, NSB has been replaced by D'Amore's Ristorante. I was in the area working recently and got held over in the Spring Hill Suites. I walked over to the restaurant to get some takeout....which would be brought back to eat in room. This is a difficult review because I was not happy with the takeout experience. The main dish and veggies was ok, that wasn't the problem. Firstly the foam takeout plate was not sufficient to keep the food inside. Most places now use a very different type of container. So, the food fell out of the container into the plastic bag. The second problem was the bread!! What kind of Italian serves three pieces of basically Wonder bread? Coming from the old neighborhood in Little Italy the Bronx I was embarrassed for the restaurant. This bread was unacceptable. Please try to fix this situation. If you respond, I will bring you some real Italian bread. A salumeria would get stoned for this transgression when making a sammich with Gabbagooooul!! In any case, the food was ok, the people inside the restaurant were very nice while I waited for my order. You have to up...
Read moreQuaint restaurant on Flagler Ave in New Smyrna Beach. As an Italian American, I am always sceptacle about eating Italian food at a restaurant. I can honestly say this is the best Italian food I have ever had the pleasure to eat that my family didn't make. The food was decedent. My sister had the Mahi-Mahi filet, and I tried the Fettuccine Alfredo and added scallops. What an amazing meal. I enjoyed it so much that I brought another friend the following day. They accommodated me, and I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with the Mahi-Mahi Filet added. Wow.... what a combo. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of the food. I highly recommend D'Amore's. Also, this establishment is owned by a local. I am so impressed. Kelly was our server for both visits, and she greeted us with a smile. The deserts are made in house, the bread they provide for dinner comes to the table warm right out of the oven. Simply put, my experience was amazing. You will love this place if you are looking for a delicious Italian dinner. I will add photos the next time I go, which I am sure...
