10/10 - A perfect score in every way: an unforgettable experience, delicious dishes, warm-hearted service, and a charming ambiance.
After an exhausting day, I stumbled upon this restaurant just as they were wrapping up for the night. As I began to exit, Chef Luke stopped me, guided me to the bar and handed me a menu, insisting he couldn’t let a guest leave unfed. I felt as if I was in my own living room. Two kind regular customers sitting at the bar, who have made it a ritual to dine there every Tuesday for two decades, were quick to make me feel like a part of their circle. Their camaraderie was heartwarming.
I had the Eggplant dish, and it was delicious! The precision in slicing the eggplant was impressive. The flatbread was also a standout, and tasted so fresh. As the night wore on, I was the only guest remaining. Yet, Chef Luke never made me feel like there was a sense of urgency. As I was leaving, Sandy, the awesome bartender, insisted I come back and finish my drink in peace while she cleaned up for the night.
Coming from a weary traveler: this establishment was the oasis I didn’t know I needed. My deepest thanks to all of you for making a stranger feel right at home. Every trip to Pittsburgh will now include a dinner stop here. Chef Luke, Sandy, and the delightful Tuesday duo – till we...
Read moreWe had a lovely dinner at La Tavola on Saturday evening. One person in our party ordered the filet. The steak was tender and cooked to perfection. Best yet was the chop sauce - out of this world! The accompanying roasted potatoes cooked perfectly, and every bite a delicious treat. Our Mom ordered the egg plant parmigiana and raved about how delicious it was. I ordered the special, Virginia Spotted White Fish cooked in a magical blend of lemon sauce and capers. The individual fish filets lightly battered and gently fried. This was accompanied with penne pasta with house red sauce - this in itself was a delicious entree. The best was yet to come - dessert- lemon cello cake - a sweet, moist perfect confection of cake, lemon and a delectable lemon icing; and crème brûlée; and tiramisu. The evening was made all the better with Camilla, our server, who responded to every request, and happily shared this was her family’s restaurant and father and son were chefs cooking the marvelous delights on our plates as she and her sister Bianca cheerfully greeted each guest and made welcomed for an evening of delicious food, wines, and dessert. This is a must stop if you are a foodie! ...
Read moreThis restaurant was outstanding! We stopped overnight in New Stanton midway between Northern Virginia and Cleveland and we were absolutely surprised to have such a five star meal in this little town. Everything from the ambience, the soft music, the service, the drinks, and of course the food were superb. Exhausted from a long drive we just wanted a good drink and meal to simply relax. Our visit was much more than that.
We enjoyed perfectly made Manhattans, freshly made Focaccia bread, Caesar salad with home made dressing, Veal Piccata and Chicken Parmesan, and Limoncello cake with coffee. The meal was one of the best we have had in a very long time.
Louie the Chef/co-owner stopped by to talk with us after the meal. Surprisingly, he used to live in Northern Virginia and is very good friends with the owner (Sergio) of our favorite restaurant (Bonaroti) - in Vienna, Virginia and he asked us to say hello to him. We have eaten at so many restaurants in DC, MD, and VA over 40 years and La Tavola definitely sits in our top 5! We most definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting...
