The location is the ONLY redeemable quality of this hotel.
Desperate for a hotel, I called town after town looking for any vacancy in ANY hotel on our drive from Pennsylvania to Michigan, we finally found this place at around 7am. We booked and paid for the room in person at the location. Because of the very late(early?) check-in, we asked if there was a later check out than 11am, and offered to pay for it, and the worker at the front desk told us that yes, yes, yes! She would make sure that we had that. The room was exactly what one would assume of a $64/night room, which was fine, but what was unacceptable was the dirty appearance of the bathroom, the uncomfortably lumpy bed, and the sheets/pillow cases that smelled of what I can only describe as “past guests”.
We got up at 11:30, and while in the shower/bathroom, were greeted with heavy rapping at the door, followed by faster and heavier knocking a minute after we yelled from the bathroom that we would be out …in a minute. Opening the door while in a towel is not something we’re accustomed to having to do, and it was very uncomfortable being spoken to in such a demeaning way, the individual demanding that we vacate the premises immediately as late check out is strictly to be adhered to no later than 11:30AM! When we said we asked to pay for late check out and that we had only checked in 4 hours prior, we were told that we would have the POLICE called on us because “we had dead-bolted the door”-but if we hadn’t, we would have been walked in on in a state of undress- and the worker barked at us that he had been knocking for ten minutes… It was literally TWO minutes from the time he started bothering us, as we heard the knocking immediately and responded by coming to the door NAKED! We received no phone calls from them, asked why not, and were then harassed to leave. I’ve never been threatened with the police before, and do not ever plan to be again.
DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE. If you have any value or self respect, you’d do better to stay away from this den of misery.
I didn’t plan to leave a review so I don’t have any photos, but you can imagine what the cheapest room available looks like, and you’d be correct. Not Chernobyl grade,...
Read moreDesperate for a hotel room for the night, my husband and I decided on here. First and foremost, I worked at this exact hotel 14 years ago when it was Quality Inn. I can assure you that the basement room that they put us in had all the same furnishings and probably the same towels from when I was there. The TV didn’t work. The linens were dirty. The room reeked of black mold and it was extremely hard to breathe. The bathroom was dirty and neither one of us showered because we felt we would come out dirtier than we were going in. Then we found yellow jackets in the room, which my husband is highly allergic to. When I tried to call up to the front desk, numerous times, no one answered. When my husband went up to speak to someone at the front desk, there was no one to be found. Whatever, we were tired and went to sleep. Upon waking in the morning we found a cockroach roaming around on the floor and immediately packed our stuff up and left. I tried calling up to the front desk again before we left with no answer as well, but what I presume to be management wandering around everywhere on their cellphones. After we left, I called to complain about everything that happened, and JP or whatever his name was, which is irrelevant because he was absolutely no help and extremely rude, he asked me to come back and show him the roach, which I absolutely was not. He told me that they have Orkin come and spray, and I’m assuming because Orkin sprayed one time, they think that’s enough to keep the bugs away. He told me that we were put in a basement room because we booked online, which we didn’t, my husband purchased a room in person. He asked why I didn’t stop at the front desk and talk to someone, but by that time I was already disgusted with my entire experience there. I would say that this place needs condemned, but then the people that actually live there, who they rent most of the newer rooms on the second floor to, would be homeless. Maybe they don’t have roaches up there? Who knows. All I know is that I will never be back and I will make sure people know what they are in for if they do indeed decide to lodge with Red Roof in...
Read moreKP was extremely helpful and friendly. He told me where to park and which door to enter to be closest to my room. He met us at the door and carried our bags, and walked us to the room. When I later called to ask about the WiFi password, he later knocked on the door to ask if we connected okay. He offered me free bottles of water upon check-in and checkout. He told us repeatedly that if there was anything he could do to make our stay more comfortable, please let him know. This was the best service I have ever received at a hotel, and I usually stay at much more expensive places than this. KP is the best hotel clerk ever!
The room was old, but recently updated with fresh paint and furniture. It was noticeably very clean. Not a speck of dust anywhere. The room was just a little bit larger than the usual hotel room.
It was not perfect, of course. The bottom of the bathroom door was a little rusted. It was not noticeable unless you looked for it. The TV was a little smaller than I am used to, but not a big deal, really.
The price was great. The location was great, near a few 24-hour businesses. I usually stay at Hilton Hotels, but I will stay here again if I am ever...
