Super 8 by Wyndham New Stanton — Hotel in New Stanton

Just moved out of state to here and decided to stay at this super 8 based on location, price and reviews.... I've worked in hotels for 10+ years, and this is one of the absolute worst. It was not what was expected at all. What was supposed to ve a set weekly rate for 2 weeks turned into over 3 thousand dollars and they still want more!!! And even went as far as to call my boss at a newly received job and disclose personal information about my stay and payment options to them. Completely illegal to disclose personal info to anyone on a personal stay using personal funds. In the 2 weeks we stayed they offered housekeeping service only one time. Thats not ok and we would not recommend this trash to anyone no matter how tight your funds are on a vacation or trip or even moving. Wilma the GM especially should not run anything with personal information because she will call and disclose it all to anyone she sees. Absolutely Unacceptable. Unfriendly staff, very run down, only 2 outlets worked to charge a phone and had to unplug lights to have that happen. Super 8? More like...

We called and rented a room on May 21 we need a room for 2 adults and a small dog. And being that my girlfriend is a gold member with their rewards program it was free for the first night. The first room we had was 205 ac didn't work. So we got moved to room 203 not either room was a dog room. Now we decided to get the room for the second night. So we talked to the guy at the front desk. And we decided it was a better price to get it online. So we did, Not once was anything said about a pet fee. But in the morning when I had to have the card key done. I was told we needed to pay the pet fee for both day's. The lady tried to charge my card and my girls without promission. And over drafted my card because of bank fees. And now because of this the last money we had was gone with no room to stay in. Now because of no cash and not being an immigrant we are stuck out in the rain. Not to mention the dirty room and bed bugs. We should be reimbursed...

This was quite a wonderful surprise for an economy hotel. I usually take for granted that I will need to tolerate a little (or more often, a lot!) of shabbiness as a tradeoff for affordability. That was definitely not the case here! Carpets were new, curtains were new, walls were all freshly painted and spotlessly glowing. It even seemed that the gleaming hardware in the bathrooms had recently been replaced. Everything was nice and clean, the AC/Heater worked great (in both settings) and the bed was very comfortable. A little bit on the firm side, which I prefer over a too mushy mattress. Would stay here again at this specific Super 8 without hesitation but would still be a cautious when evaluating other Super 8 locations. In general, I don't give much weight to hotel reviews that are older than 6 months because a change in management and staff can have profound consequences...
