Good food but a bit overpriced for the portion. I had their lunch "Feast", and since I am vegetarian, instead of a chicken choice, I asked for two veggies (mushroom bhaji and sarson ka saag). When the waitress asked if I wanted rice or naan or both, I chose only rice, which I came to regret, as the portions were quite small, and I was still hungry after wiping clean the entire plate. There was a good lunch crowd, all the seats were taken, and an older gentleman vacated a bar stool next to the serving counter. He sat on the other bar stool to work on his laptop. Later he asked me how I liked my food - I realized he was the owner of the restaurant. Seeing his turban, I asked him if he was Sikh? Yes he was - then he must be a vegetarian too (no wonder the veggie dishes tasted so good!); and also like me, a meat-cooking vegetarian :-). All in all, I liked the food, but wished for a better portion.

This place is so bad. The food tastes extremely bland. No place to site comfortably, wind comes to hit you in the face every time a customer comes in (don't ask!). They goofed up orders of other customers while we waited for our food and couldnt even identify their own food. We would have been fine with all those but the food is horrible. Not at all authentic. Neither of us can even finish half of it. Even the rice is sticky like sushi and not like Indian rice. As a South Asian, I feel betrayed. Yikes.

Looking for Indian food searched on Google and found nearby restaurant. But honestly the food was not upto mark. Quantity is very less. And the Nan was very small and like half cooked. Rice same half cooked. Not worth the price. Since we were hungry we just had it. They just served water in small plastic glass. That's weird. Service is not good at all. I eat in lots of Indian restaurants but this was to the lowest mark. 😔 👎 Not recommended at all.

During my latest culinary exploration, I stumbled upon an exceptional restaurant in downtown New York that left a lasting impression. This place effortlessly combines a chic modern aesthetic with subtle traditional elements, creating an ambiance that's both inviting and sophisticated. The gentle lighting and stylish decor make it an ideal spot for a relaxed yet refined dining experience.

From the moment I stepped in, the service was impeccable. The staff greeted me warmly and were consistently attentive throughout my visit. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to accommodate special requests added a personal touch that elevated the experience.

Now, onto the star of the show – the Indo Chinese Veg Manchurian. This dish is an absolute triumph. The Veg Manchurian is perfectly crispy on the outside, with a tender and flavorful interior. The rich, tangy sauce complements the vegetables exquisitely, creating a burst of flavors in every bite. The chef’s expertise is evident in the balanced spices, making this the best Veg Manchurian I've had in downtown NY.

This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates outstanding Chinese cuisine. Whether you're a seasoned food enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable meal, the Indo Chinese Veg Manchurian alone is...

Ok I work in the Tribecca area and happened to notice Saffron Thread but this was earlier of the pandemic, and I said when they open I'll try them out. Today was the day and I wish I came earlier. For starters the place in immaculate and the staff are pleasant and attentive. I was told of the specials that were available for the day. I decided to go with the chicken special which consists of a chicken dish, a vegetable dish and either rice or naan. I tried the chicken tikka masala with chana masala and rice with an order of vegetable samosa. The chicken tikka was very good especially the sauce not too sweet with just the right amount of heat. The chana was the same minus the sweetness oh so good. Alas I was not as impressed with the samosa. It was in the bland side but the saving grace is you can dip it in the ample amount of sauce from the main dishes. So if your down by Chambers and Church St and have a strong hankering for curry definitely consider stopping by Saffron Thread. The prices are reasonable especially for the amount...

I went to the restaurant and ordered the lunch meal. I received an email from the restaurant of a birthday offer of $5 off. I tried to use it but the cashier told me that I couldn't use it. I asked her why I couldn't use it. She repeated again that I could not use the offer code. I asked again. She told me that it was only for entrees. I looked through the email it did not say it was only for entrees it only stated that it is a birthday offer code of $5. I showed her the email and she insisted that I could not use it. She told me that my meal is only $10 and that I should just pay it. I asked to speak to the manager or a supervisor. She stated that he had left. I was very dissapointed about the service. The cashier made me feel very embarrassed and uncomfortable. I have been going there every week for almost a year for lunch. I recommend many of my colleagues to go there for lunch. But now I no longer want to go there and I'm sharing with my colleagues...
