I got food poisoning. Not a mild case either. I ordered the same thing as my friend but added the beef sausage so I’m certain it was the sausage.
This was my 2nd time here & will obviously be my last. The vibe is cute, the food the 1st time was just okay, the cacao was not good. I’m trying not to be too harsh with my words bc this place is local to me but it’s time for a revamp. Staff included.
EDIT: 6 days later, still sick
Based on what I ate leading up to my meal here and knowing my body, I still think this is where I got the food poisoning.
Only the people who work there would 100% know if I was indeed served spoiled meat. No business would admit that publicly.
That said, there are still aspects that need addressing. I’ve noticed that many businesses are resting on the laurels of their former glory and stop making the changes they need to stay fresh and exciting.
I’ve tried a few different dishes here—like the wagyu burger, Turkish breakfast, a brownie, and the borek sandwich—unfortunately, none of them were as tasty or memorable, with the latter possibly being the source of the food poisoning I experienced. The cacao was chalky, and the coffee didn’t stand out either.
I had my first Turkish Delight here—that’s the one delicious item I’ve had here and thankful to this establishment for my introduction to this heavenly yumminess. I can see why Edmund would betray his entire family for this scrumptious confectionary.
The owner seems really kind, and I can see that this place has been around for a while, but there’s room for improvement. I believe the menu could be condensed, and the dishes might benefit from some rethinking to make them more flavorful. And the service wasn’t welcoming at all. The woman (not the owner) at the register was not friendly.
Even though I had a rough experience, I really hope you continue to stay open and thrive. I’d love to see this place succeed and improve, even though I will not...
Read moreI wanted to keep this place a secret. Sometimes I can be selfish like that. I don't want anybody to know of a spot I love until I am sick, tired and ready to move on from it. I take it as far as to not checking in or posting pictures. Top secret stuff. Since its the holiday season, I will share with you all.
Abracadabra is a reliable spot to get good food. Super tiny, yes, but well worth it. The decor is adorable; you'll see all kinds of wacky, cute little things. I like places like this. It has a homey; cozy feel to it. It's a shame it sits a few people, but that's what makes it unique and personal. A whimsical tiny hole in the place.
The food is excellent. Hits the spot every time. That veganizer burrito has made me realize that all my efforts to not eat meat have paid off. Because there is a place like this, that makes this good nonmeat burrito. It's tasty, spicy, and humongous. I have been disappointed at other places when I've opted for vegetarian burritos. Not here!
The service is excellent. The staff is pleasant and attentive. The first time my sister and I went we wanted to order four plates. Talk about eating with our eyes. The gracious man behind the counter suggested we each start with one plate and let him know midway if we still had room for more. That was thoughtful of him, and he was right. What we ordered was more than enough.
Abracadabra is a great spot to go to with a close friend. Sit by the window and sip on some delicious Turkish coffee while...
Read moreTwice in the past month I’ve gone to this restaurant and when they rung me up the prices were 15% more expensive than the menu price. The first time I pointed this out they apologized and said they recently raised prices, fair enough. Next time I go back in they have simply erased all the prices off the big menu that’s above the register. So in order to see the prices you have to pick up the menus on the counter. Same deal. I get rung up at a price that’s 15% above what the prices on the menu are, every item. I point this out and they first try to give me a hard time about it but I refuse to get out of the line unless I get it for the menu price because I waited at the register for 5 minutes while they walked past me multiple times ignoring me before they took my order. Other reviews are correct the people working here are a little on the slow side and they are scamming also. Menu price for the borek sandwich with sausage is $12, which is already outrageous for a breakfast sandwich with two small slices of sausage on it, but being rung up at $13.50 is an outright scam and highway robbery. Any corner deli can make you a sandwich like this one for $6 or less. Do not support places like this that are price gouging and outright scamming. This place use to be one of my favorite spots but over the past year the prices have gotten insane and it’s not worth it anymore by...
