Where can I begin with this place? Since the departure of the old man, this place has been on a downhill trajectory. The food is average at best, the service is horrible. Nasty people behind the counter, on the phone and terrible customer service. They get your order wrong, they keep you waiting when you order ahead an hour and all for food that is forgettable on a good day. I know most of the guys at work won't even consider this place. The last time I went there, I ordered two chicken parmigiana on a hero and one done a specific way. I forgot to order the pie of pizza after having to repeat my order specifics to the girl taking the order. I waited an hour to show up and told them I forgot to order the pie and I wanted to know if I can just purchase the pie under the counter glass. A simple response would have sufficed but the large nasty white guy behind the counter sneered out "no he's going to wait". I said to the Spanish guy who spoke little English behind the counter forget it just give me four slices. I specifically asked him lightly heated and he nodded as though he understood but left my slices in till they were blazing hot and getting tough. I had to ask him again to remove my slices and asked him for the two heros I ordered an hour earlier over the phone and he said I had to wait. I again told him it was called in an hour ahead and he said it's not done yet. It wasn't even too busy yet they took half an hour and I still waited. After the half hour, I was ready to ask for a refund and asked one last time for the heros and he went to the back and brought them in. During this whole time the pie behind the counter got cold and not one person bought a slice. When I got back I realized that the order was done wrong. If this wasn't Easter Sunday, I'd never have went there. It served to remind me how terrible customer service is there and the food isn't even very good. The neighborhood is surrounded by plac s that have better service and better food. To top it off someone called me two hours later to ask if I was going to bother picking up my heros. I told this individual how I came in and kept reminding the guy behind the counter three times about my order that was done an hour before my arrival and how they had me wait half an hour for something I hadn't ordered and they were nasty too. No one at the job even goes there anymore. I had my buddy ready to go with me for food until he heard they were the only Italian place open and he opted for 7 eleven instead. He said I'll never go there and I should have taken his lead. Never again. A block north and one west, or on the other side of the Belt Parkway has better service and people seem to care about what they make. Whoever responds to this review, don't bother apologizing for what this place has become; you need to fire your current staff and get people who have people skills and don't...
Read moreI miss the days where Aldo would make the first pie every single day without fail. I would go in and enjoy my slice with a soda and my soul would be totally fulfilled. NOW, it's just at an all time LOW. Ozone Park used to have the BEST pizza in NYC. Now, we have like no pizza shops anymore. Ever since Aldo sold his restaurant, the new owners changed the recipe and down graded in ingredient quality. It's no secret. The locals who grew up in the neighborhood know. My girlfriend is from out of town and unknowing ordered from Aldos. If I knew I would have told her not to. When the food came she said it was from Aldos. I was like damn you should have told me! But ok let's give it another shot! So we eat the mozzarella sticks. They were decently cooked but the sauce was obviously frozen sauce or at the very least low quality. Just slightly better than Fridays frozen dipping sauce. So that was a 2/10. Then we eat the pizza. The actual slice was cooked perfectly but there was literally ZERO sauce on the pizza so you couldn't really taste much but the dough and cheese. So that's a 3/10. Then the main event which was Alfredo linguine with grilled chicken. The pasta was not bad but the chicken was definitely frozen chicken. Not fresh at all. It was dry. I was crewing for like 5 mins and it wasn't breaking down. So I just picked all the chicken out and ate the pasta. So I give this a 2/10. Overall, I give Aldos a 1/10. I'll never give it another chance UNLESS Aldo comes back and gives them the recipe and they go back to their traditional ways. Incredibley sad to say but your better off just going to Domino's or Papa John's and...
Read moreIt's Lent and we cannot eat meat on Fridays. So Italian was the cuisine identified everyone called out what they wanted so we set out to find an Italian restaurant on GrubHub.
We settled on Aldo's due to # of positive reviews and distance.
They had several eggplant dishes. We picked all 3 since two came with pasta or salad. Unfortunately there was no checkbox for pasta or salad so we assumed we would get a call or something. The order was set and we waited for it. The GrubHub app would benefit from additional alerts. We called the restaurant asking for a status and they said it should arrive shortly. Less than 2 min later we get a call from the delivery guy.
So we dive in making sure everything is there and we find out that the two eggplant dishes are missing pasta or salad. So we call again trying to rectify the order, I was surprised to have to explain to the manager the app didn't give you a choice(I have the screen grabs). He was accommodating and asked how I would like to resolve, just send two linguini pastas please, understanding it would arrive eventually.
So to the food, I had a lentil soup, it was spectacular, the lentils we're cooked right and not chewy or hard. It had great flavor and not salty. The garlic knots we're still warm and chewy, not hard. The eggplant sandwich was also really tasty. Good flavor and good ingredients. My wife like the eggplant rollatini as did our young son. My daughter enjoyed her meatballs and spaghetti ( where was the cheese).
The plan is to order from here again and try their other dishes, but so far so good. The lentil soup was that...
