Crossbay Tacos Bar — Restaurant in New York

UPDATE: Against my better judgement, I've ordered from this place a few more times after I left the last review. Since then, I've never encountered any more staples in my food, or any other unwelcome guests for that matter. Every single time that I order food from here especially since the last review, the food is always "bussin" as the cool kids say. Because I've had no more incidents and because the food is always good, I upped my review from 2 stars to 4.

I should start by mentioning that I've ordered food from this place numerous times, both via pickup and through GrubHub/Uber eats with no issues. The food here is actually really good, way better than Chipotle and cheaper too. The portion sizes are pretty good for the money and I've never ended up on the toilet after eating here. That said, I ordered some food through Uber Eats today, particularly some Birria tacos and noticed that there was a staple in one of the tacos. I took the staple out, inspected the rest of my tacos for any staples and after deeming it was now safe to eat, I gorged. I understand that mistakes happen but I'd probably be a lot angrier if I didn't notice the staple and had started chewing on it or even swallowed it. If I ever get food from here again, I'll definitely have to be on the lookout for any loose items in my food and I'd advise you guys to be cautious as well. For the record, the Birria tacos were amazing minus the staples, and the good food is why I still gave this place two stars...

I have given this place too many chances and disappointed each time.

I have ordered here about 4 times now (only because I live walking distance and its one of the only places open late at night around here). Each time, I clearly ask for flour tortillas, instead of corn tortillas. Upon pick up, I confirm with the cashier if its flour tortillas before paying, she says “yes”. Once I open the bag, guess what!? Its corn tortillas! This happened two times. The last few times they did this I had them remake the order because Its so frustrating, like why can’t they take simple instructions? And the fact that they confirm its flour when it never is.. annoying. Today I ordered ONE taco and asked for flour tortilla as usual, got a corn tortilla instead (of course they get the order wrong again). Cashier once again confirms its flour when i picked it up.. lol. but the worst part was I FOUND A SHARP PIECE OF METAL in the taco. It almost cut my tongue. When I pulled it out of my mouth, it was super sharp ( looked like a piece from a metal can). That was the moment I knew I can’t keep giving this place any...

If your looking for authentic Mexican cuisine on your lunch break in the Jamaica or Howard Beach section of Queens this is your spot. Small cozy family shop atmosphere with big food taste. Be prepared to wait whether dining in or taking out as the food is prepared fresh to order on premises. YOU MUST have a Carne asade Quesadilla to start followed by Carne asada, Chipotle chicken, burrios, shrimp and fish tacos, they are all delightful and will be fine in 3.... more like 2 bites, $2 TACO TUESDAYS are a true fact at Bushwick Taco so make it your regular Tuesday lunch spot. They bring the food straight to your table and clean up after you leave, but don't be a slob, these are good hard working people. I'll let the photos take...
