Angels Cafe' — Restaurant in New York

Good food but racist. They thought I had poor English skills because I'm mixed race.

I'm not Hispanic and they tried to speak Spanish to me repeatedly even though I only spoke English and don't speak Spanish. It's not even that their English was lacking; they translated perfectly from Spanish when it was clear I didnt understand at all. They stopped when I explicited stated I don't speak Spanish.

Anyone not ignorant knows a Spanish speaker could look like anyone. As someone who gets perpetual foreigner racism for being visibly mixed race, it's disheartening to see casual, subtle racism so widespread and normalized. Ok I went here and ordered a bacon cheeseburger to go. I ordered the bacon well done. At least 3 or 4 times I said well done. And then he asked me before he gave it to me "do I want everything on it?" I said it again, no just well done bacon, cheese and ketchup. I got in the car and the bacon was almost raw. Why is it that whenever I go to a store in my neighborhood, I can never get it the way I ask for it. And on top of that they overcharged me. 11.45 for an $8 menu listed burger and a can of soda. I also asked for a receipt twice and she never gave me one. It seemed like the people working here were just not paying any attention...

people are really nice and the food is pretty good. one of the first food spots i went too when going to NY for the first time. the only thing I don't like about this place is location. sum dudes who defiantly aren't looking for a meal hang out on the street. and the second time I went there ( almost 3 moths ago) sum kid got shot, ran in the store, and collapsed. other than that, if your in the Bronx and looking some Latin American (big fan of the meat patties)food....
