Applebees is always my go to place when I feel like going out to eat. I went there yesterday April 20th, 2025 for Easter Sunday lunch. I had my family and two friends with me. There was 5 of us in all but only 3 of us was there at the beginning. We got to the restaurant and no one was at the door to seat us. Someone finally came and gave us a table. The other 2 people arrived soon afterwards. We sat at that table for about a half hour before I finally went to look for someone to take our order. It took another 15 minutes or so before someone finally came. We gave her all the orders at once to speed things up. We sat for another half hour before the appetizers came. There was no plates, no napkins, no water and no utensils given to us. We improvised and started on the appetizers because we were hungry. Meanwhile, we are still trying to get the utensils needed from anyone passing by. Another 15 minutes went by before we got the utensils and our drinks. By now, we had finished the appetizers and waiting for our main course. Mind you, we got there around 12:25pm and still didn't have anything to eat by 2:30 pm. We were chatting and had the appetizers by then so our hunger was curbed somewhat. I finally went to look for a server or anyone I could talk to with no success. People who came after us ordered their meal, got it, ate and left and we were still waiting for our meal. Finally, a guy was passing by in their uniform so I spoke to him (looked like an assistant manager/ maybe the manager). He went right away to check and see what was going on. Came back promptly to apologize because according to him, the tablet of the person who took our order crashed so the order never went in. I said so no one told us anything about that and have us sitting here for all these hours for an order that wasn't even placed. He took our order on paper and did his best to fast track it. I needed some butter for my bland baked potato that never came. After waiting for it for 5 minutes, I just ate the potato. Desert took another 20 minutes to arrive. The cheque came very swiftly though. Our bill was $160. I still gave the server who brought the bill a $40 tip since it was Easter. My sister and the other guests with me was not happy with my decision and now in hindsight, I think it was pretty stupid too. We did not get out of there until like 5:15pm or so. I'm seriously thinking of not going back to Applebees. This was my worst experience there. The servers were not very helpful. They were just walking around doing nothing. There was not many people there when we went in. About 5 tables, if that many had guests so I don't understand why the service was so bad that day. I hope this was an isolated incident otherwise Applebees will be on my banned list. On a day like Easter Sunday, I expected a lot more from Applebees. That was a total disappointment.
To update: Someone from Applebees did reach out to me which I thought was great. He informed me that he spoke to the manager at the restaurant I visited and he was made aware of the problems I encountered there. He proceeded to tell me that I wasn't charged for the appetizers or the drinks (I realized that when I looked at the bill) and that is a $50 plus value. It's as if somehow that excused the terrible service we received. I gave the lady who brought the bill a $40 tip even though the service and my experience there that day was so bad so who is the loser in this scenario? I thanked him and hung up the phone because I didn't feel the need to say anything else. Thanks Applebees for reaching out and for your so -called apology but I'm not impressed. It starts with poor Management!! When the management is poor, the service is poor. This was my third take out order here and will be my last!! I don't plan on coming back!! I placed in order, drove over and had my son go in because of parking issues in this area. I had to leave my car and go inside to see if something had happen to my son. 45 min wait from when the time the food suppose to have been ready. Did I mention the inside of the restaurant was empty! Also the food orders were all getting mixed up. The girl at the pick up location was worried about how her nails looked instead of being friendly and professional to the customers. Applebees, you need to evaluate this location very well. Call in an order and go through what people like me have to go through. This place should be shut down, due to poor management and customer service. Its so sad in such a great location with lots of hungry people coming from shopping you have this kind of service. You have been warned!!! Give your self at least a 45min to 1 hour wait for food to be ready when ordered online, after the approx time food says it will be ready. Also as soon as you walk in too pick up your order, they make you sign for it quickly, so it could seem as if the food was already handed to you. Read moreI do not recommend! The first bad sign was waiting almost 10 minutes for the host to come over and acknowledge us. When she did come over, she didn't even greet us first. She went to the security guard to chat with him even though I was at the host stand noticeably waiting. She looked bothered that I wanted to sit down. This was around 9pm and not near closing. I guess at a certain time, they don't turn the tables. The table right bythe entrance was littered with dishes, not what you want to see as soon as you step through the door, but also tables that left are we came sat with the mess after this customers left. Service was incredibly slow for no reason. It wasn't crowded at all. I won't name the waiter, but they should use notepads as they not only brought us the wrong drink, but there was a mixup with the food as well. There was an extremely long wait for our other drinks too. The food took a long time as well even though we ordered appetizers. Go across the street the BBQ's! Even the check took forever!!! I can't even tell you how long we waited for it, but it was around 30 minutes. We had to ask multiple times for water. It's not something that has to be prepared so why did it take so long? Where was our take out container? Where were our refills? The staff either walked around aimlessly, sat on their phones, chatted in groups with each other, or were nowhere to be found. I get that this isn't the fanciest neighborhood, but I didn't expect such poor service. Very bad form! And the bathroom stunk. I went in twice.
