Astor Gourmet & Market — Restaurant in New York

Long story short, these people are cheats who will rip you off. If you look at the pictures here of the menu, those prices are still up. I ordered something and they charged me 4 dollars over the price. I actually said 'that is not what I ordered, it should be much cheaper,' and they still said 'yeah that is what you ordered' and they didn't change the price. It was around $11.50, a full $4 over what is listed there. They would not change the price. So basically they are either idiots who can't ring up the register right or they are just cheating everyone that comes in. I'll be honest, the sandwich was giant. It was verbally confirmed to me though that what I was given was in fact the small sandwich, so the cashier and the price up on the board both CONFIRMED it should have come out to $7.49, so that is what I expected to pay. I mean look at the menu pictures on this listing, there is no mistaking the prices there. I wouldn't have ordered the sandwich if I knew it cost that much. I did a bunch of math and there is no earthly way it should have come up to over 11. That's not the price the of the big footlong sandwich or anything else up on the price board. So where did this...

Once in and never stepping foot again. I'm one of those that rarely writes reviews (especially bad ones( but this is ridiculous.)

This just goes to show that it's not always always about appearances. I went to buy a chicken sandwich for breakfast and ..never again. I'm not sure how long they keep the ingredients in the kitchen but my sandwich tasted like water. The chicken had no flavor or seasoning for that matter, the lettuce, tomato, and everything had no taste, the jalapeño peppers I requested on mine were salt bombs...literal salt rolls in the shape of peppers and I really wanted to puke it out. And to top it off it was on a whole wheat slice and you know how much? 10 freaking dollars for a sandwich that looks great on the surface but a sorry excuse for taste. (It's a bit overpriced too if you ask me). Quite frankly the cheese was the only thing I could barely taste. Ultimately, a bad experience.

I'll give it a generous 2 stars since the place doesnt look bad but needs improvement in the cooking...

Ordered a philli cheese on a hero’s while waiting for the bus that was 17 mins away and they took forever I almost missed my bus and the cook had a hero put a different meat on and then crabbed it off and was roasting the bread around and then when I turned my back to look if the bus was there he used the burnt bread for my sandwich and I asked them about it and he said no lie and below I had to run for the bus and when I opened the sandwich it was complete burnt and tasted like char coal or burnt wood and u can’t bite it how brushy the bread is. I will never buy from them again. I called the. While on the bus and they are telling me to come back with the sandwich mean while I’m trying to go home. I threw this in the garbage....
