Not a sit-down place. They should remove all of the chairs and tables, and advertise take-out only. That's why I'm rating this as a three-star restaurant.
Yes, as others have said, the pizza is at a level above what other places have. The crust has a nice toasty crunch to it, but just the right amount to leave some chew left in the dough. The sauce is noteworthy, with a fresh tomato quality. The toppings are good - not exceptionally different, but of a high quality.
It's in the atmosphere that the possibility of a 5-star review fell apart. First, maybe you be been running around, pulling on door handles and grabbing onto subway car support bars. You're about to eat food with your hands, and so you want to wash them. Sorry. There are no restrooms anywhere in sight, and while there might be in the back of house, a sign prominently displayed advertises "no public restrooms." I'm wondering, isn't it a code violation to serve food at a sit-down restaurant but deny customers restrooms? Neither was there any hand sanitizer for customers. Mercifully, you're occasionally surprised by your resourcefulness, and you left one last hand wipe in your backpack. Pizza is served, delicious as expected, except you can't help but notice the aural clash of competing music styles - Brittany Spears "Toxic" broadcast to the dining area, alongside even louder Ranchero music from the kitchen. The Latino staff seems happy and they're always in motion working, cleaning, keeping the place alive and succeeding, but the collision of music is an assault that perhaps only a customer would appreciate. In my experience, it's a major blindspot for restaurants to forget about the customer experience. In this instance, I can offer great marks for friendliness and, nominally, also for kitchen cleanliness, but poor marks for everything else about the customer experience - because of noise and bathrooms. What a shame.
Would I return? Would I recommend this place to others?
Yes - for...
Read moreAvenue Pizza is a true hidden gem for pizza lovers, offering a creative menu that pushes the boundaries of traditional pizza while delivering on flavor and quality. The first thing that strikes you about Avenue Pizza is its welcoming vibe—friendly staff, a clean and cozy atmosphere, and an impressive menu that caters to both classic and adventurous tastes. It’s clear they take pride in crafting dishes that are not only delicious but also memorable.
The Philly Cheesesteak Pizza Roll is a standout. The flaky crust, stuffed with tender, perfectly seasoned steak, caramelized onions, and gooey cheese, was an instant favorite. Each bite felt like a perfect blend of a classic Philly cheesesteak and the comfort of a pizza roll. What really sets this apart is the balance of flavors—the steak wasn’t overpowered by the cheese, and the hint of garlic butter on the crust added just the right touch. It’s a must-try for anyone visiting.
Equally impressive is the Big Mac Pizza. It’s essentially a burger lover’s dream turned into a pizza. The signature toppings—ground beef, shredded lettuce, and their special sauce—work harmoniously on a perfectly baked crust. It’s indulgent without being overwhelming, and every bite genuinely tastes like a Big Mac in pizza form. The creativity and execution here really highlight Avenue Pizza’s knack for blending classic comfort foods into bold, new experiences. For anyone looking for a unique and satisfying pizza experience, Avenue Pizza is a must-visit spot that will leave you...
