Quite honestly, I was very impressed by this hidden gem. Although I did not get to try their tacos yet, as my friend and I we're so full from just the guacamole and grilled octopus, which were superb!! The prices were really reasonable in comparison to many restaurants. They're taco Tuesday specials are actually on Mondays, which was a bummer for us, but they still have some pretty good happy hour deals. The guacamole was really delicious, and the serving was never-ending. The grilled octopus was perfectly cooked with a really nice flavor, accompanied by really tasty potatoes and mushrooms. I was very surprised as usually there are no sides with these types of plates. As far as the drinks go, holy molly!! Delicious. I tried about 5 😅... collectably. Margarita Only Guey ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great passion fruit, Marg! They have different choices. The Sun-Dia ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A little sweet, and yes, you tasted mostly watermelon - I'm not that big on sweet drinks, but it was nice and refreshing. Woodside Mar-Tea-Ni ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nice drink, I tasted a hint of smokiness. Pecan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ May sneak up on you! Delicious drink. However, I wouldn't recommend if you're lactose intolerant lol... the cream takes half of the drink. ¡Ay Guey! Smash ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very delicious and refreshing drink The bar tender/waitress/hostes/server Thalia was amazing!!! She prepared all the drinks fast and delicious! I was impressed with how she was able to handle all these tasks alone. Surprised she wasn't cooking also, but compliments to the chef! Lastly, I have to say that these are the best churros I have ever had in a Mexican restaurant!! The caramel was creamy, not like the typical ones that are nothing but sugar. The churro itself was warm and delicious. I...
Read moreWe stopped by here after noticing it had opened a few weeks ago. Ordered the birria tacos, Aztec soup, chorizo perditas and some churros to go. Everything was really good and different than the usual Mexican fare. A regional style we hadn't had a chance to try. The owner (I think he was the owner anyway) seemed real nice and you can tell he is passionate about food and authenticity and it shows in the dishes offered. There has been 4 different restaurants at this location over the years and I think this one is my favorite. Hope they stay, so go get some grilled octopus and drinks or something. Update 12/19/23: Still really good. We try to order something different every time and tonight it was time for short rib enchiladas (really good), brisket tacos (can't remember the name but they were great) and a queso fondito served in a small cast iron skillet with caramelized crispy cheese edges that was phenomenal! If you go for the crispy corner piece of lasagna for the crispy brown cheese, this one is for you. The owner was really friendly and...

Ay Guey Cantina and Cocina is a gem! From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere is vibrant, and everything—from the decor to the service—was top-notch.
Drinks: The cocktails are absolutely delicious. The margaritas, pecan beverage, and Padre Viejo were standout favorites. Each drink was crafted to perfection, balancing flavors beautifully.
Food: The food is simply delectable. The use of fresh ingredients really shines through in every dish. The grilled octopus was perfectly done, tender with a slight char that added so much flavor. The spicy guacamole was just the right amount of heat, and the hot sauce—delicious! Every bite was an explosion of taste.
Service & Cleanliness: Thalia is just simply the best! She did not miss a beat! The service was impeccable, friendly, and attentive. The restaurant was clean, and even the bathroom was spotless, which is always a good sign.
I highly recommend Ay Guey Cantina and Cocina. I will definitely be...
