The selection of deliciously prepared vegetarian and pescatarian dishes are simply plenty.
The Banana Boat is a self service buffet styled restaurant that offers more than ten different vegetable pans. The choices begin with freshly prepared and well seasoned rice and beans. As you continue walking, you will find long grain white rice, lemony herb couscous, spiced spinach, butter corn, sweet potatoes, black beans in gravy, string beans, southern styled collard greens and etcetera.
As impressive as the vegetable choices were, the freshly prepared fish choices were even more masterly magnificent.
As delicious as the food at the Banana Boat is, the restaurant absolutely does not deserve more than three stars because of the rude cashier.
After collecting my food, I walked to the counter that was simply too tall, placed my dish onto the formidable counter.
I was instructed by a young man engaged in conversation with a female, who had appeared from behind the cashier booth, to ring a bell. I rang the bell several times and then waited nearly five minutes. The cashier had appeared with the most wrathful scowl. During my rather brief encounter with the cashier, I was made to feel worthless and unwanted by the lack of eye contact and rude tone in the cashier's voice.
It is truly a shame that my experience was so damaged by the unprofessional cashier. If you are willing to tolerate being treated like worthless rubbish, I would recommend you try the deliciously prepared dishes at the Banana Boat; the food is an absolute...
Read moreThis place is unprofessional and rude. I came in there with my daughter after celebrating my birthday to grab some lunch. The woman at the register told my daughter that she can serve her food that she is under age. My daughter is seven and pretty independent. But when she told my daughter that she is not allowed to serve her own food, we just ignored her because I felt like she was judging my child so instead of saying something rude, I decided to ignore what she said. During the time that I was serving my food, there was a tray of some sort of meat that I thought was like a barbecue for maybe a barbecue chicken that was really brown And I asked the woman what is this and she said chicken I couldn’t hear her too well so my daughter repeated back to me chicken so then I repeated to the woman you said chicken? And she said yes so I served it thinking I was getting chicken I got to My Home in the Bronx, and upon opening the tray and taking a bite into my food. It is indeed kidney and not chicken. I called the woman back to let her know that it is not chicken after she stated that I was chicken And then she tried to lie and say that she did not say chicken that she said kidney but that is not what she said and she wanted to argue me down about it but in fact, I repeated to her and said you said this is chicken and she said yes I would not suggest any atmosphere that treats there customers that way and honestly I feel like she did it as revenge because I ignore her when she told me that my daughter cannot serve her...
Read moreThe customer service was not the best. My total was $22 and change and I asked why it came out to that price since the buffet rate is $6 and change per pound and the cashier was being smart with me and answered my question with another question. "What did you get?" So because I had half of a salmon (which you're not supposed to cut the salmon in half but there was one already cut in half and that's the one that I picked) she charged me the full salmon rate which is $13 and change per pound. My plate was 1.6 lb, I got the lo mein which was tasty but greasy, rasta pasta, cabbage, one chunk of yam, two pieces of fried chicken was perfection and half a salmon which was salty. I think $22 is wild for a plate of pasta and veggies with three little pieces of protein, weighing your food for it's price and the rate is dependent on which protein you get feels...
