About 6 months or so ago, friends of mine told me that Bar San Miguel had switched owners and improved immeasurably. We made a plan to go and try the revised menu and drink offerings and I wasn’t disappointed! Within 10 seconds of walking through the door we were greeted by a smiling young guy in glasses that welcomed us warmly and took us to a cozy table in the backyard. It’s adorable!! We were given menus, brought water and asked our waiter for a few minutes to decide. Our outing was celebratory in nature so we all had a margarita to start. DAMN, These things are GOOD!!! Not too sweet with a nice balance of tequila to fresh lime juice, YUM. We made up or minds on individual dishes and called our waiter over. In the meantime before our mains we grabbed some Chips & Guacamole which comes in mild or spicy. We chose spicy and we were all very happy. The table ordered: Yuca Fries, Fish Tacos, Steak Quesadillas, Short Rib Tacos and A Caesar Salad. The food started coming out of the kitchen pretty quickly and we all gazed at one another’s dishes hoping that the food would be as good the margaritas were. WOW!! You know how you can always tell when people like what they’ve ordered?? The conversation comes to a stand still. We were taking bites of each other’s mains by passing our plates clockwise and it wasn’t long until we had devoured it all.
The Yuca Fries were gone in seconds! The Fish Tacos were lightly fried and topped with pickled onions, chipotle mayo and greens. The Steak in the Quesadilla was grilled and had onion with Pecorino Cheese. The Short Ribs in the Tacos were braised perfectly and served with the braising liquid. The Caesar came with Grilled Chicken, Crispy Tortilla Strips, Avocado and Radish and balanced nicely with the Caesar Dressing. We ALL decided to order another drink and happily found that the second was just as good and consistent as the first. We all left there SO happy! It was a GREAT birthday indeed.
Hands down Bar San Miguel has improved unequivocally. I’m not sure who the new owner is but they along with the professional and welcoming staff, made a lasting impression on our group that evening. This is 1 of my new spots and I couldn’t be happier. Cheers 🍾 to a...

I found this gem when my friend and I needed food ASAP after a fun day event. We were starving and craving tacos. Got in and there was a few people already in a couple of tables or seated at the bar. We were seated immediately.
We split the shrimp tacos, al pastor tacos and the steak quesadilla. I got a lemonade while my friend asked for the blueberry mocktail. I love sour drinks so my lemonade was good to me. She didn't enjoy how sour her drink was but the bartender was really patient with trying to get the right taste for her. I personally appreciate thoughtful staff like that!
Food comes out fresh and hot plus the menu even mentioned that it would take a while until it's served. So I appreciated the heads up and was blown AWAY by how delicious it was!! Worth every minute!!
Tacos comes with 3 (YES, THREE!!!) tacos and the corn tortilla itself tasted homemade. I'm not even typically a fan of corn tortillas but these were GOOOOD. 2 juicy, crispy shrimps per taco, the sauce was tasty and I loved whatever else was in that taco. The al pastor was well seasoned and the lil hit of guac in the bottom was SO yummy. Steak quesadilla was deeeelish too! I noticed there was a chipotle BBQ sauce for a different item so I asked for that sauce on the side. Those 2 together?!?! BOIIII. 🔥🔥🔥 I'm a fan of hot sauce so they gave us some kinda hot sauce that complimented everything we ate too....mannnn. When I tell you my girl and I INHALED THE FOOD WITHIN 10 MINUTES?!?! NO REGRETS!! 😭
Don't even get me started on the delicious dessert. We ordered the caramel filled churros with caramel ice cream. I suspected it would've been too sweet since the order came with a side of chocolate sauce...boy was I entirely WRONG! The perfect balance of sweet, crunchy, and phenomenal.
In conclusion, I'll definitely be back here whenever I'm in BK. Everything came to about $40 per person and worth every penny. Go here and see for...
Read moreThis place was GREAT. I don't often say that (I'm difficult). I am quite particular about Mexican food, and I have celiac disease, so I have to check out a place very carefully before I can go. I go to Mexican places often because the cuisine offers more dishes that are likely to be gluten free by default than many other culinary traditions (plus, I just love it). Bar San Miguel was highly recommended on a celiac chat site, so I made reservations for dinner for my husband's birthday. First of all, let's just say, outstanding, authentic Mexican cuisine, all around, just to get that out of the way. Everything was amazing. Everything from the guacamole and chips to enchiladas, salsas, etc. were just a little better and a little more special than anywhere else we had had them before. There were also some little modern updates/surprises: instead of Mexican rice , the side dish with my dinner was a quinoa dish. It was quite good. Next: super friendly staff. Our waiter was so helpful and knowledgeable. He immediately alerted me to something I was about to order that he knew to be at risk for cross contamination before it even occurred to me to ask. He already knew the entree I wanted (short ribs with mole) had no flour in the recipe, but he checked with the chef to be sure. For dessert, they had a flourless chocolate cake that was (for once) not bitter and not too acidic (because flourless chocolate cake usually is both), and also not too sweet, with just the right pop of cocoa -- fantastic. I will definitely be visiting Bar San Miguel again when I am on your side of the Hudson and...
