After seeing the Barking Dog on a list of the best dog friendly restaurants, we decided to try the brunch with our four legged friend. After seeing how packed the outside part was, we knew it had to be good. We were also no where near the only people with a furry friend as the patio was crawling with fidos. The manager did a great job of expediting tables, moving around chairs and making new tables, and we were quickly seated.
We ordered the pitcher of red sangria as we perused the brunch menu. It is largely regular American brunch faire, from pancakes to steak and eggs. Our sangria was very good, nice and sweet and refreshing on a warm spring day. The chunks of apples and orange in it were also a nice touch.
I chose the steak and eggs while my wife had the Barking Dog special, 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. My steak was actually excellently cooked to perfection. The fries it came with were also incredible, I'm not sure if it was the oil or the potatoes, but something about them really stood out. The eggs were also good, and went well with the steak as expected. The biscuits both came with were good but dry, though the eggs helped with that. My wife's eggs and hashbrowns were good, but not outstanding, she described them as "average brunch food". The bacon was pretty good though (I may have stolen some when she wasn't looking). Our little Hershey wasn't left out while we ate as our waiter brought him water and a milk bone right after our food came. He also made some friends at the next table while we were distracted with the food.
Service was excellent. We were seated very quickly though the place was packed and our waiter, though covering all the outside tables, was constantly checking on us and our dog. He was super friendly and even chatted with us about our dog. I can see why several of the other patrons with dogs told us how much they loved the place and that they were regulars.
The prices were also fantastic for the locale.
We really liked the barking dog and Hershey loved it. I think we'll...
Read moreI have wanted to stop in for Sunday brunch since seeing people dine here with their dogs. It was not a particularly pleasant experience today. I arrived just after 9am with my dog. We were quickly seated, but that was all that was quick. I waited over 5 minutes for table water, I waited 10 minutes for my coffee ( people arriving AFTER I did got theirs), I waited 20 minutes for my food (was charged $2.50 for a tablespoon of onions on my hash browns-see picture), waited for the check (had to wave down the waitress for the electronic check), and lastly waited for the receipt of my meal. (I ended up just leaving the cash tip on the table and walking out!) It was such a beautiful day, so the waiting alone was not “the worst” thing I experienced, but the accompanying issues were enough to make me reconsider another visit! Lastly, I learned that this is not a dog friendly restaurant, it’s just one that let’s you bring your dog with you while you dine outside! (No water or even a Milkbone was offered!) PS: The food was okay, no real complaints...except the onions thing. I did tip at 20%. The waitress was pleasant enough...even if not an experienced or...
Read moreService was alright. They were very attentive, but also very forgetful. Kept forgetting our napkins and bringing the wrong sauce. The Buffalo wings and fries we got were 3/5, okay, but nothing stellar. The drinks were really great but very small for the cost. The cost to satisfaction simply didn't match.
They were very friendly but again I had to eat my wings with no hot sauce and then more blue cheese and then finally they brought the correct sauce after the third time asking, wings got cold.
It's pet friendly but other than a complimentary snack (little biscuit treat.) they didn't offer water for our dog or speak of dog menu items if there were any. So my boy just sat there for hours waiting while we ate and drank.
I feel like $100 could have gone a lot further at a BBQs or something. That's six drinks at happy hour between two people and we needed 3 each bc they were so small (awesome as they were). Two orders of wings 3-4 wings cut in half to be made to look like a lot, and fries $100.
3/5. it's alright. But I'm putting my money...
