Went here for a book signing event, staff had terrible customer service started cutting people in line “to help customers that pre ordered”. I wanted to buy a book from the shop as a way to say thanks for hosting such an awesome event but no longer. I will stay far away from this nightmare. Edit I came to the event with the author’s book, I drove from MD to the event and wanted to find a cool cook book from your store to remember my time in the city. I started waiting in line at 5:20pm. About an hour later the line cutting started and the line stopped and 30 minutes after that the line started moving again. For anyone looking for a place that cares about potential customers, it ain’t here they treat you lower than dirt.

The name says it all. Wonderful little bookstore specializing in all things food! After searching several other places for anything written by Ludwig Bemelmans and coming up empty handed, Kitchen Arts and Letters had exactly what I needed. Any book lover will appreciate this spot.

This is an extraordinary shop--the staff are experts in their subject matter and passionate about sharing their considerable knowledge, the stock is exquisitely well-selected, and the ambiance could not be more chill. A key stop for cooks and food enthusiasts at every level.

If you're a cookbook fan, a fan of the kitchen, a fan of food history, or anything related to food, this place is for you. The place is organized quite well to help you find exactly what you're looking for.

After spending a bit more than 2 hours simply browsing and just being in awe of the amount of interesting books available, I asked the gentleman at the counter for his own recommendations on French and Italian cookbooks. He was able to pull multiple books from the shelves and explained to me what each book would provide. I ended up taking his suggestions and I'm fully confident I will get good use out of them.

There's out of print books that would typically be hard to find. There are also some books that you wouldn't typically see on most websites. I noticed quite a few Korean cookbooks that I have only ever seen here, very interesting.

There's books on food history, books that go into further detail about why some countries may eat some foods. For example, the book Jamaican Food: History, Biology, Culture is a book on why Jamaicans have the diet that they do, what led them to that point and the significance in the ingredients they use to cook. Plenty of similar books on different countries can be found at this store.

If you're not from NYC, you can opt to have the books delivered. I'm excited to receive mine. I can't wait to give this store another visit...

Kitchen Art and Letter" is a must-visit for anyone passionate about cooking and culinary literature. While fairly small, this charming bookstore offers a meticulously curated selection of cookbooks, from timeless classics to new releases, ensuring that there’s something for every food enthusiast.

When I walked in and asked about a cookbook that was about to be released but wasn’t yet on Amazon, they had it in stock. I was able to buy it days before I could have gotten it online!

The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and were always ready to provide recommendations and share their passion for food. With special events like author signings and cooking demos, it’s a hub for the culinary community. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or a curious home cook, "Kitchen Art and Letter"...
