A beautiful dinning experience, well priced with massive portions great for sharing. It was my first time having Georgian food and it was delicious. The pork sausage was my favorite with the plum sauce as well as the tomato sauce. Everything was different and extremely savory. Our group had lamb soup, borscht, garlic chicken, fried and steamed soup dumpling, potatoes with mushroom, the cheese bread with extra cheese, and some complimentary sodas pear and green herbal and bread. I really enjoyed their bread. The borscht is heavy on the dill which I enjoy but a fair warning to those that don’t and the garlic chicken is on the saltier side. The lamb soup is so clean tasting and delicious as well as the fillings in the dumplings. The green soda taste like absinthe or an herbal liquor without the alcohol it was a good different. The server was quick and made excellent suggestions. The establishment is elegantly decorated, quaint and clean. If I am ever around this area of Brooklyn I will definitely be revisiting and I highly recommend this place to...
Read moreAmazing Georgian restaurant that stands out from the rest. Having grown up in Russia in the Iron Curtain days, where Georgian cuisine was considered our region's epitome of fine dining, I thought I knew Georgian food. Mtskheta surprised me. Although there are some well-known favorites on the menu, beautifully executed (such as kupaty), the chef generally eschews the most iconic Georgian dishes for more authentic regional ones. Cuisine here combines unique Georgian flavors (truly, Georgian cuisine as a whole is like no other) with an eclectic and one of a kind menu. Try clay-baked dishes, especially the poussin in garlic sauce.
UPDATE: Was here again today, and this place is still one of the best dining spots in the NYC area. Shkmeruli: poussin seared crispy and then simmered in butter-and-garlic sauce, still a favorite. Kupati -- grilled pork sausages with pomegranate seeds -- are delectable. Pan fries with sauteed mushrooms are the best in...
Read moreFirst time having Georgian food and it was really good! We ordered a few dishes. We got the khinkali (meat soupy dumplings), khachapuri (a sort of flatbread with Georgian cheese), eggplant with walnuts, and the Neapolitan for dessert. My favorite was the eggplant and walnuts dish. It's served cold and has a nice pomegranate filling. The khachapuri was alright if you really love grilled cheese type foods. The dough was really good. It would have been good to have something to dip in. The khinkali I was looking forward to since I heard good things about it. The meat was alright, but there was a lot of meat so that was appreciated. The soup was a little too salty for my taste. The Neapolitan was pretty decent. The cream in the middle was just the right amount of sweetness. The waitress was really nice and the vibe...
