Brown Betty — Restaurant in New York

Story Time:

Since my family and I always take a day trips into Queens, we always stop and order food from Brown Betty across the street from Sybils Bakery. We’ve been ordering food from them since December of 2018. Since then, we love their Chicken Fried Rice and we always order two. On Saturday July 12, 2019 I called them shortly after they opened (pictures to show) and ordered 2 Chicken Fried. By we were already cooking that day because family was in town we already had so much we didn’t get to eat the Chicken Fried Rice. Monday July 14, 2019 while finally getting a chance to enjoy the Chicken Fried Rice we ordered, I found 1 Long Strand Of Brown Hair mixed in my food. I immediately took a picture (pictures to show) and called them to make a complaint (pictures to show) about what I found. The girl took my number down and said she would call me back in a few. 30 minutes go by and I get no phone call, so I call them back. I was told by her that she gave my information to the manager / boss however he is not in right now and when he gets in I should be expecting a call from him - she’s very sorry this happened - all the cooks wear hairnets while preparing food and doesn’t know how that happens and she’s very sorry. Up until today which is July 19, 2019 I’m still waiting on my phone call from the “manager/boss” to hear what he has to say about all of this and why it took him so long to get back to me about this situation. I don’t know if there will be a next time of my family ordering food from them after this fiasco. If I don’t hear anything back from them...trust me I’ll be reporting them to the BBB because it shouldn’t take almost a week to fix something serious that could potentially put their establishment out of business. I am very angry with the whole situation. I should have already been comped a free dish or something of the sort the next time I come...

WOW. Out of all the places on Liberty Ave, BB in my opinion, is hands down the most AUTHENTIC place for Guyanese Food.

I'm stunned at just how identical the food was to my mom's cooking even down to the consistency of the dhal. I ordered the dhal, rice, shrimp curry and okra. And i actually had to take a moment, because I thought I was eating my mom's food.

I love how they are also the only place on Liberty Ave to use the small shrimps in the shrimp curry. That Okra was the best on liberty.

My family agrees this is the best place on liberty for authentic Guyanese food. Thank you Brown Betty for such an incredible dinner and I wish you nothing but continued success for generations to come.

I ordered two chicken chowmein and one fried rice for dinner , jus to find out there’s one chowmein and two fried rice in the bag so the other fried rice jus went to waste cause we didn’t want all of that rice , so I called them and told them and they said it’s a mistake and can’t do anything about it, that’s when I got mad cause it’s not my mistake, so she told me to come bk for another chowmein , when I got there , she have some nerves to tell me take a picture next time like I will lie about a $10 chowmein ,if she wasn’t constantly on her phone she wouldn’t have mix it up, Very bad customer service!! They need training in there and to learn...
