Iâll say, this is a really nice addition to the neighborhood. The place is nice and cozy, from the decor, layout/design, and the beautiful amount of sunlight that gives the space a glow. Thatâs the only positives. It is pretty quiet. Itâs been open for a while, and Iâve been here a few times since it opened. The female barista when this place first opened was very good; she was sweet, attentive, genuine. The male barista they have now is the opposite of her: rude, not attentive, no care for the customers. I donât know what happened to the female barista, but bring her back. They did hire a new female barista (white girl), but sheâs not good either. She has an attitude, and looks like she doesnât want to be there. Prices are okay, but quality of the drinks and food are poor (ordered a scone and it was hard as a rock). The owner(s) frequently walk around, but donât help or acknowledge anyone at all. They can see the barista is clearly struggling, but donât seem to want to step in and help, or even know the customers coming to their coffeeshop. Not even a hello or a smile, or a welcome. The owner with the mustache also is pretty rude and ignorant towards customers. This was off putting (another person commented the same thing, about the owners being completely useless and rude). This place has so much potential to do better, I hope the owners take these criticisms and change their approach, otherwise I donât see this place lasting very long (I give it a few more months honestly before itâs closed). Based on the downward trajectory and the attitude and behavior of the baristas/owners, Iâll be going to other local coffeeshops around the area.
UPDATE: Do your research on one of the owners of this coffeeshop. After finding out and reading, the rude behavior and condescending attitude all made sense. As a POC, you need to SERIOUSLY reconsider coming and doing business here (especially with this business being in a POC dominant...
Read moreThis is My first time going to a cafe in Bay Street with a group of people from JCC. It's a walk from where I used to live in 52 Beach Street and had to get there by crossing the street. There is a McDonald's just not far from that too. It's a brick building and it has a sign of a coffee cup at the front door entrance. When I went inside, the place felt American like and a little welcoming. It's almost campy. There was one carpet at the entrance because it was raining when I got there. They did have some chairs and tables. A bookcase with a little winery at the bottom and coffee and books. âđ·đ They do have a back room where it's really comfortable. They could have put a rug there too since it has the red curtains for an entrance. Inside they did have a lot of art pieces on the walls and a fireplace with wood đȘ” and two chairs and a table. There is a couch there as well. And a dresser like cabinet in the corner of the room. The whole back room area felt like something out of the 80s or a 90s sitcom. I looked at the menus and they're very fancy. I picked out the SI Burger with sea salt hand cut fries. The burger was $15 and the fries were $8 which equals out to $21. Pretty expensive for two meals because the burger came with a pickle and chips. The freeze came with two sauces mayonnaise and ketchup. The chips were a little hard but I enjoyed the burger đ and it was very delicious đ. I did ask how much the drinks cost.$3 for a glass bottle of soda or I could have the water which is free. I said yes to the water but I didn't really get it. I'm not going to lie I was slipping a little bit because the whole floor was made of wood. Hopefully I can come back to this place for a little bit more of an experience does this kind of Cafe looks and feels very homely and I don't know why. Does look very cool...
