We were greeted with a “Hi, how are you?” from the bartender — and that was the last time she acknowledged our existence. My boyfriend literally said, “Can I get a Stella,” and she straight-up ghosted him like we were background extras in her sad little sitcom. Not even a glance. It was giving customer service school drop-out with a minor in delusion.
The spot at the bar we went to sit down at was still a mess from the previous group literally money still on the counter and despite the bar being nearly empty, she didn’t even bother lifting a finger to clean it up. She was too busy taking 20 minutes to make one drink for someone who was clearly her friend (hope that vodka soda was handcrafted by monks, girl).
Meanwhile, her friends at the bar were hyping her up like she was the second coming of Tom Cruise in Cocktail. It felt like we had walked into a high school cafeteria with liquor. Sarcastic remarks, fake compliments, smug stares it was honestly embarrassing to witness. & to be someone who comes with the Carfax? I’m hoping that she remembers who i am if she ever finds herself scrolling through google and reading this review, but I was specifically trying to look for the bathroom and she decided to embarrass me in front of everyone and tell me in the nastiest attitude like “umm the bathrooms that way, sweetie” because I walked towards a door for “employees only” and then told me “keep walking” when I needed reassurance of which direction to go in.
If your bar staff thinks it’s cute to ignore paying customers while they serve their little clique and play “Mean Girls: The Bar Edition,” you might want to re-evaluate your hiring choices. Or at least teach your staff the difference between a bar and a popularity contest.
We left before ordering. You couldn’t pay me to stay. The vibe was dead, the service was a joke, and the bartender should honestly be embarrassed.
Avoid unless you’re into being ignored in a dirty bar while a C-list bartender lives out her main...
Read moreThis is my second time going to this place very nice bar on the inside. First of all the security is so ghetto and so unprofessional I don’t know how anyone still goes to the spot. My first time attending this bar, I arrived at the location and I was approached by the security guards friend who asked me for ID. He didn’t have any security shirt or identification, stating that he was a security guard. I immediately responded to him. No, you cannot have my ID. Do you work here? Where is your ID and your uniform? He respond very intoxicated. I work here. You can ask my boy I responded. Where is the security guard. The came out after 10 minutes and his friend wanted to escalate the matter and choose to engage and arguing and confrontation, I immediately excused myself from the premises. The second time I came to this location, a friend of mine, which is a regular at the bar rent it a section for his birthday and paid $1000 for the section alone and then an additional $1500 credit that he paid for cocktails they didn’t even have the decency to let him order a bottle of champagne or wine Just order cocktails from the menu until we reached $1500. This is not acceptable in New York City at all. I do not recommend this location and security needs to be fired before they end up...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a spot in Brooklyn that feels both retro and refreshingly new, Carousel is worth checking out. It’s a cocktail fusion bar with a laid-back vibe — part mid-century lounge, part creative cocktail lab. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with just the right mix of nostalgia and new energy.
Ashley is a big reason Carousel feels special. Whether she’s behind the bar or floating around making sure everyone’s taken care of, her presence adds a personal touch that’s hard to find these days. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit.
As for the drinks, the menu has plenty of standouts, but you definitely don’t want to miss the Smoke and Mirrors. Made with mezcal, it’s smoky without being overpowering, and there’s a little bit of flair when it’s served that makes the experience even better. Carousel is a perfect spot to settle in, slow down, and enjoy a really well-made drink.
