30yrs ago my college friend hooked me onto the Strawberry Shortcake. We would frequently buy it for birthdays & other celebrations throughout those 30 yrs. Ppl always asked where we got the cake from & raved about it. It’s been about a year or 2 since I last was in the area to purchased the cake. So when I found myself in the area on Tuesday, I stopped at Carrot Top, I requested a Medium size cake & I asked them to cut the cake in slices. They refused to. “We can’t cut the cakes”. Which I found really weird. I mean it’s a cake. What would they be liable for? When I tasted the cake I was highly disappointed. It did not taste the same. It was bland & the icing did not look to have the consistency it always did. It was way toooo sweet and left an after taste that I had not experienced when having eaten it in the past. I shared the cake w/friends that have tasted it before and they were surprised this was the same cake we buy from Carrot Top. I ended up having a lot left because of that, I took it home put the cake in a container and put it into the fridge. 2 days later I took it out to have a piece. It was worse, The cake was hard the strawberries on top were bad even the sweetness did not help camouflage what was going on there. Idk what happened in the last 2yrs. They must have a new baker or that cake was not fresh. Cause I like to enjoy this cake so I would always portion it out at the very least for a week. And I had to throw it out after...

Read moreOn August 29, 2025 at 5:15pm, I came in to pick up a piece of chocolate cake that I had been looking forward to all day, and instead was met with one of the most unpleasant and unsanitary experiences I’ve ever had at Carrot Top.
The woman serving me had a visibly bad attitude, looked hot and sweaty, and made no effort to show even basic customer care. What disturbed me most was her hygiene: after wiping sweat from her chin to her neck, she did not wash her hands. Instead, she grabbed a tissue to pick up my cake and place it in the to-go container. That same tissue touched the container, creating cross-contamination. Why are gloves not being used here? And if this is what happens openly in front of customers, I can only imagine what’s happening behind the counter where we can’t see.
I’ve been a frequent customer of Carrot Top for years, but the service has gone downhill for some time now—attitudes are bad, and customer care is non-existent. This incident was the final straw. I will not be returning until there are serious changes in cleanliness standards and basic respect...
