My experience with the driving school was mediocre, if I didnt call them I would have not known that they had already set up a road test appointment, and its hard to miss a call if you have an iphone. I must say I had a great instructor name Misael, I learned alot from him. However, this is my second time failing an exam but this time I know it wasn't my fault, I took 6 class with the same instructor and his assigned car, I was used to the vehicle, day of the test, I notice none goes with their instructor, they assigned someone to take you who I have never seen instruct, and I say it because I work really near by, nothing against him because he was polite. At the test site, I used a faulty vehicle that on the dashboard saids Past Service, steering wheel problems, emission warning yet its okay with examiner, and I say it becausecI thought a car has to be in working order but it okay for it to indicate "Past Service" sign on the dashboard and then when taken to Orangeburg, from start of me turning on the car, it makes a funny sound but yet I was able to move forward, almost past my test but once again the car has a jumpy acceleration that caused to touch curb which mean automatic fail plus I hit brake hard because didnt expect that scrape sound. Mind you I was used to a no problem with the car I practice in Washington Heights where theres always heavy traffic, never had that problem. Just feel you scamming your community by giving drivers on their road test, crappy cars that has jumpy accelerations, and their secret helpful parking trick, which I wont expose but honestly if you see the licence plate in the middle of passenger side as you reverse it will help. I learn alot from my instructer but its a trend from driving schools to give you a crappy road test car vs what you are practicing in. I rather ask someone I know to help me get familiar with their vehicle and accompany me to use it for road test.
UPDATE
They have no interest in admit that their cars are in need in service although in Spanish, they tell me its my fault for failing not their cars. But okay I see their cars like casinos some people get lucky maybe I am the problem. Still would rather ask a friend to lend me their car. Once again they got great teachers but shitty cars for road test. Warning you will not use the same car...
Read moreIn short - I took the 5 class package deal with Jeffrey and passed. McGuyver saved the day in the end when it came to my road test (RT). Pricing is decent (see below break down of pricing I was provided).
Jeffrey was a great instructor and I had him for 3 lessons. Victor was my instructor for my last 2 hour lesson and he was great but has a totally different teaching style than Jeffrey which caused confusion.
The details of my road test were unclear til the very last minute however Susie and McGuyver were able to make an exception after I consistently called and stated that the miscommunication and short notice of details was not my fault but rather theres. McGuyver took me to my RT and provided helpful tips. In the end I passed without losing any points. So thank you to everyone who helped!
See my Yelp review for an extend explanation of my experience with this establishment.
Recommendation to business - Provide clear guidelines on how the road test is administered and scheduled by you. If it's advised that people take the day off work or school that should be told in advance so ppl can accommodate.
Recommendation to a consumer - Remember who you've spoken to, and reconfirm details. All the instructors speak English/Spanish but if you prefer someone who can speak fluent English I'd recommend Victor of the instructors I've driven with. Jeffrey was great and patient with me as well. The site provided doesn't seem all that functional so its best to call or go in person for details.
Pricing (This was as of 3/16/19 so it may change) 5 Lesson Package - $339 10 Lesson Package - $479 Includes - 5 or 10 classes, 5hr video, 1 RT, 1 car for RT Defensive Driving Course - $70 (Need to have a license)
Deposit is needed. Card is accepted but there is a fee associated with it so I suggest...
Read moreI highly recommend Jeffrey & Rafael who are both very patient instructors. Driving styles are somewhat different, but you will definitely feel at ease with either one. Update 2018: while they have some good drivers, the school itself is garbage. I referred my sister here since I passed on my 1st try & they’ve been giving her the back and forth for well over a month now. She’s in medical school & told them from day 1 that she was leaving NY Right before the new year and needs to take the road test before then. Cool? No. They didn’t make a note of this so when she went back a few lessons after inquiring as to her test date they said they had no idea what she was talking about so one girl opted to search for an emergency date and promised to call back day of. 3 days later no call. My sister calls to follow up twice with news that they can’t find a date for her test (it’s their fault mind you). My sister looks up DMV dates and finds one, puts on hold and calls them letting them know only to find out that she has to pay more $ bc they don’t generally go out that far. Done. Day of test arrives & needs a redo so she comes back from her state of residence for road test 2. First confirmation call from driving school was they would take her with their car just arrive at a specific time. Second confirmation call was she has to pay again to use their car and they changed the time on her as well. Obviously changes happen last minute, but be more respectful as to people’s schedules given she lives out of state and has a plane to catch. Very, very, very disorganized. All they want is your money. Go somewhere where you can actually learn and get your money’s worth. It’s not worth the stress nor time here. They will be getting reported bc it’s a complete waste of a business in...
