Being in the mood for Korean soup, wanted to checkout this place for BuDaeJjiGae. Not sure if they recently changed their signage, but the signage looked new and caught my eye to stop by. The place seemed very slow during my afternoon visit. It was in an odd time in-between lunch and dinner. Ordered the BuDaeJjiGae(army soup). My initial impression of the side dish brought out was very good, tasted fresh and well made. The server felt like the owner and was soft spoken but kind. The main dish also looked and tasted fresh and made with quality ingredients. But after taking few sips of the soup, it felt a bit off from what I was expecting this soup to have tasted like. Don’t get me wrong, I think there was a lot of care preparing the soup and its ingredients’ quality. It was a decent soup but just didn’t have the distinct taste of the type of soup I was expecting. It was a bit disappointing that I didn’t get to try any other dishes but the fact the restaurant sells itself as a BuDaeJjiGae restaurant, was expecting the soup I tried to have a bit more distinct taste associated with this particular type of soup. Perhaps the restaurant was still in its early infancy and needed more time to refine its taste. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant for BuDaeJjiGae in particular, but good for a good meal with quality...
Read moreWas looking for some quick grub before karaoke and was walking up and down the street. Found this place and figured I'd give it a try. I spoke to the owner as well and had a cool chat about the establishment and his hopes for the place.
The food is affordable, practically a steal considering the prices of other places. On average, you’re looking at about $14-15 a head, a few bucks more for a drink too. Given that most entrees include two bases and 3 sides, that’s really good.
I got fried chicken bites with fries, salad, and various banchan:
The chicken is moist and crispy, the fries are still crispy an hour+ later. The banchan is very standard, no complaints I got the gochujang aioli and the owner recommended the katsu sauce for the chicken so he gave me that as well. Both sauces are very solid, no complaints
The owner himself was very pleasant to speak to and seemed really passionate about keeping prices down as best as he is able and building a sense of community. Just by talking to him and looking at the menu, you can tell this is a passion project and not so much a profit one.
I will be coming back and wish this establishment the best in these...
Read moreThis is a new spot in flushing that hosts a variety of great Korean dishes for your late night cravings. First thing, the portions are huge! So satisfying with the amount of food. The fried chicken was so juicy with the right heat. Dumplings were plump and juicy. The Pork soup was homey and packed with flavors. The side dishes were the best imho, there were so many different kinds my eyes were drooling. Thank Julie for the kind service and hospitality! For anyone who dare to venture out towards this area, I definitely would recommend this restaurant stop for...
