I’ve been in New York City for the entire month of March and have been coming to this coffee shop almost every single day to get some work done. After spending roughly 80-100 hours in this place over the past few weeks, I can confidently say that this place is the real deal. These guys have cultivated a shockingly comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, especially considering the relative chaos of the streets right outside the door. Everything seems to be just right in this place, from the classy chandeliers to the sturdy and clean tables. There is so much space and room to breathe that you can enjoy a coffee and conversation without having to worry about the folks around you.
But the benefits of being in here extend far beyond the delightful atmosphere. The lattes I drink daily are simply the best I’ve ever had. I have no idea what makes them special, but they seem to have the perfect proportion of whatever ingredients they contain, be it espresso, milk or matcha. Despite its simplicity, the food here is also out of this world. I get one meal here every day and each one is made with splendid care and attention. The salads are always fresh and crisp, and not a single thing is ever overcooked or burnt. Each dish invariably has the perfect amount of salt and seasonings to make it pop.
From the spotless bathroom to the impeccable service, everything about this place has exceeded my expectations. It is why I continue to come back and why you should give this...
Read moreCity Coffee & Bar on 914 Columbus Avenue is the perfect spot for your morning coffee, brunch, or lunch. They serve excellent coffee and espresso drinks made with a tasty blend and offer a wide range of plant-based milk options.
I recommend trying the warm banana bread or one of their freshly baked cookies with your coffee — both are delicious.
For lunch, I’ve tried the Breakfast Burrito, filled with flavorful scrambled eggs, cheddar, avocado, and chorizo (you can swap the chorizo for fried mushrooms to make it vegetarian). It’s served with either a crisp, fresh salad or perfectly seasoned breakfast potatoes.
The Avocado Toast is another favorite — simple, fresh, and served with a light side salad. A great choice if you want something on the lighter side.
The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the staff are wonderful — especially Bryan, who’s always attentive, available to take orders, answer questions, or simply have a nice chat. You really feel welcome here.
City Coffee & Bar is also laptop-friendly, pet-friendly, and accessible for wheelchairs and strollers, making it an inclusive and comfortable space for everyone. A big plus is that almost every table has power outlets and a comfortable working height — perfect for catching up on emails or spending a productive morning with great coffee.
I highly recommend City Coffee & Bar if you’re looking for a friendly neighborhood café with fresh, tasty brunch and...
Read moreI came to grab a matcha during the day and I loved it, great atmosphere, great service, and a good drink. I really enjoyed it so much and I decided to grab another drink before heading over to the airport for my late night flight.
I unfortunately had to carry my bags with me because I am not from this area, I walked all the way from my hotel which is about a 10 minute walk. And arrived at the coffee bar at about 12am. I walk in with both of my suitcases which was struggle. And as soon as I am in the cafe the lady working tells me they are closed. I am really surprised because its a tuesday and online says they close at 1am not 12am, not to mention a bunch of customers sitting, drinking, and watching tv. She said they close at 12:30, again its 12 almsot exactly. I understand if they stop taking orders at 12:30 but to kick me out immediately and hour before closing. I honestly think she kicked me out for havibg two suitcases with me, maybe thinking I am trying to stay in there or something I am not sure. I didn't say much and left because I dont want to spend money and tip someone who doesn't want me there. I waited for my ride outside the cafe, and all of the customers were still in there for another 10 minutes at least which makes me believe they definitely WEREN'T CLOSED.
I hope you talk to who ever worked 7/8/25 the closing shift. No one appreciates that and you will lose customers with...
