Play Street Museum Upper West Side opens today! There’s a new miniature city for little New Yorkers - Play Street Museum UWS opens today! Located on the Upper West Side, the museum is designed with imaginative play in mind, and is geared for ages 1 to 8. Play Street Museum brings a mini city to life! The space features (an adorable) Town Square where kiddos can explore interactive exhibits based around life in the city. Visit the doctor’s office for a check up, care for the animals at the pet shop, or save the day at the FDNY fire station. There’s also a recycling station, grocery store section and the cherry on top? A play ice cream shop. Play Street Museum also features a gigantic train table, a wonderful rotating Discovery Rug (current theme: Construction!), arts and activities. Available for a separate fee is slime, pottery painting, dip dye, and canvas painting. Bright, open, and airy, this adorable little city that is owned and operated by a local family is a must visit for you and your family! āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø 10/10 – A Fun, Interactive Experience at Play Street Museum! We visited Play Street Museum on Columbus Avenue this morning and had such a fun, hands-on experience from the moment we walked in! Check-in at the front desk was quick and easy, and we were greeted warmly by the store associates. We placed our belongings in a cubby before heading into the play area. My little nephew was in awe! The environment is super kid-friendly, with a cute mini store to the right featuring hands-on puzzles and gadgets perfect for children. He wasted no time jumping right into the imaginative play space—he especially loved the train station set. Before we left, he looked at me and said, ā€œI can’t wait to come back!ā€ā€”that said it all. One of the highlights for me was how spacious it was. There’s plenty of room for families, and I was impressed to see five restrooms available! That’s rare for a kids’ space, and definitely a plus for busy family visits. Near the end of our session, the staff gave us a friendly 10–15 minute warning, which was helpful. And as a sweet touch, they offered the children a variety of snacks to choose from before leaving. My nephew enjoyed that part too! Overall, Play Street Museum offers a well-designed, interactive experience that teaches children about community helpers and places like the pet store, doctor’s office, bakery, and grocery store. We had an amazing time and will absolutely be returning. Highly recommend!

My son who is 15 months old and not quite walking just yet LOVED this play space. There were so many things for him to play with (train sets, cars, blocks, pretend food, instruments, dolls, stuffed animals, etc.) while also entertaining all of the older kids that were there (up to 10 years old, I would say). I will definitely take him back! Only issue I had was that there is extremely limited space for storing strollers, shoes, etc. There was a reminder to caregivers in the ticketing email to be cognizant of it but I think there should be some reinforcing of strollers being folded up upon arrival. As someone who came 15 minutes late with a non-walking toddler that I had to hold, it was very difficult to get to an open cubby while holding him due to the limited space. I also left a bit early to avoid being in anyone’s way. I think this can totally be avoided if an employee helps organize the space in the beginning of each session.

Our family came for an open play slot. As expected given its recent grand opening, the place had a ā€œnew carā€ shimmer. All the toys, fixtures, props, etc. were still in mint condition and the place was well organized/maintained (the price point and limited capacity will probably help). Fingers crossed the staff (and community) will be able to keep this lovely space well maintained. As can be expected with play spaces, they can really suffer from a lot of wear and tear, particularly when parents/caregivers aren’t as diligent with minding their kids and allowing them to be unnecessarily rough with a space and its toys/equipment.

Our family’s main constructive feedback would be to stretch the open play slots from the current 1hr30mins to a more family friendly 2hrs. 1.5hrs just seemed a bit too abbreviated given the price point and our family would have appreciated the extra time (2 hrs seems like it would be a sweet spot and offer a little more value to families). Oh, and maybe a lower price point for weekday open play spots (this seems like an establishment that will predominantly be used directly by parents rather than caregivers/nannies so they could offset the naturally lower weekday demand by offering specials, say $20-$25 per kid). Giving 4 stars (but could easily be 5 stars if pricing and length of playtime was more...

We booked our daughter's 5th birthday party at Play Street sight-unseen in January prior to the opening day. Booking the party on the website was super easy, but we were contacted immediately to talk about what we envisioned for it (in addition to pretend play, our daughter wanted princesses...they helped us to work costume characters into the party).

Kristina invited us to tour the space right after we booked and I felt so relieved that we'd booked early. The space is so neat and well-maintained, with tons to keep the kids entertained. The details for the party were wonderful. We brought in some coffee for the grownups but PSM took care of fruit, veggies, pizza, and cupcakes for the kids and it was a great spread.

Our favor bags included a pass for a complimentary play session, which was a life saver a few weeks later when the kids were all off for April break. It gave us a chance to visit in a non-party setting (a bit quieter since the number of slots are capped!) and the kids played again for a solid 90 minutes. 100% would recommend for a party, or a day when your kids have...
