My wife and I went the other day. Maybe we set our expectations to high, but it was not what we were expecting. We wanted to learn the basics of pottery making, and bring home a few things that we made.
Our instructor didn't seem to have the patience to want to teach us or help us. He didn't give us an opportunity to choose what we would like to make. We sat down to learn what to do, and then we were done in a few minutes. We quickly went on to painting. He seemed to be nervous about other work he needed to do in the back, and didn't seem to want to spend time with us. He rushed us through so we could focus on painting and he could do other work.
In the middle of us painting he told us of all the other things we can do if we came back or became members. A few times he mentioned how much time we had remaining, like he wanted us to go, and eventually we did (and earlier than we paid for because it was uncomfortable).
It seemed like this was an expensive marketing tactic to get you to sign up for a membership or more classes so you could actually learn something or be productive.
I see a lot of positive reviews, so maybe our experience was unique, but I wanted to make people aware of our experience and to be cautious.
Mostly I felt like we wasted our time,...
Read moreMy sisters and I came last month for a pottery session and the experience was far better than what we expected! The team was so welcoming and such amazing individuals to be around. Otto, Heaven & Marco are truly the dream team! They work so well together and we love their energy!!!!!! From the moment we walked in Otto greated us and gave us a full run down of how our night is going to run and answered all our questions. Heaven was our go to and quick with the solutions. We were unprepared and uneasy interms of attire but she reassured us that the clay is washable and we have nothing to worry about. Marco was at the painting station. He was very patient with us. My sister’s handle kept falling off her cup lol but he swooped in and helped it stick on. He also walked us through how to attach the flower molding and other extras we wanted to add on to our craft. The pottery itself was so therapeutic. The music was great the guest were engaged and we had such a lovely night. We were surely taken care of from the moment we stepped in all the way until the end. We cannot wait to pick up our craft. Highly...
Read moreMy friends and I went to Pottery Studio NYC at 104th today. It was my second time, and my friends' first time doing pottery. Compared to my first pottery experience with a different studio, I found that I enjoyed this studio more! Our 3-person group was taught by Rivelle, who was amazing! As a patient, fun, warm, and informative instructor, she explained different techniques to us. If one of us found the technique challenging, she provided a different technique that allowed us to do the same job. Rivelle took the time looking over each of us and our pieces, guided us on how to correct our mistakes/demonstrated how we can troubleshoot a mistake we've made, without judgement. I thoroughly enjoyed the attention she provided to each of us, ensuring our pieces came out how we would like. We all felt comfortable and welcomed. Definitely would...
