We recently stayed at a nearby hotel and made several early morning stops at the Corvo Coffee shop at the corner of 40th Street an 9th Ave. in Hell's Kitchen. Tried several coffee shops in the area during this trip, this was our favourite. Opening hours are from 6am to 7pm daily. Seating area is rather limited at Corvo and there seemed to be a queue each time we passed by, regardless of time of day. Even before 7am, we had to wait for a handful of others picking up espressos and other coffee drinks before making their move. Queue moved fairly quickly so our waits were never long. All standard coffee drinks are conveniently priced at $2. A bit worried this would mean low-grade coffee, we were surprised to find the double espresso to taste quite good, bold but not bitter with a nice finish. Americano wasn't bad, even if 12 ounces is too much hot water to add to espresso. There are scrumptious breads, pastries and a few sweet foods served up at Corvo as well. On one of the mornings we passed by we tried a almond croissant that was decent. It was a heavier than we like for croissants and the layers weren't more chewy than flaky. However, it didn't cost much and tasted decent. Overall, not a bad little coffee shop and certainly affordable for those looking for a quick cup of black and morning bite to eat. Would have no problem visiting again if we were to stay in this area of the city during future visits to NYC.

This place is a gem! We stayed at the nearby hotel and came here one morning for breakfast and coffee. The food and coffee were so delicious we decided to come here every morning for breakfast. The bagel with omelette and cheese is the best! They will ask if you want it cold or hot, but the toasted one is the best! I have also enjoyed the Philadelphia cream bagel, pain au chocolat and the almond and plain croissants. It can get very busy at times, and you might need to wait in a queue, but the service is very quick. There are only about 6 seats inside. Highly recommended, I can’t wait to eat here again.

A small coffee shop to grab a coffee and run. There are 6 bar stools, no tables to sit, well, this is a city coffee shop. There is a small selection of desserts, in principle, a good cafe, with pleasant service. I was lucky that there was a chair and I was able to while away the time before my appointment and drank honey bee coffee with oatmilk, it was too sweet for me and they added boiling water on request. Usually, especially in the morning, there are no seats here. Good coffee

$2 food that is more expensive now, but still tastes like $2 food.

I was drawn to this place for the $2 price tag, but the menu pricing is higher now by $1-3 depending on the item. I get it, inflation comes to us all. It's something im finding is an increasing issue with restaurants on Google; everything has menu pictures from a year ago. Also, there doesn't appear to be a bathroom... There's a door that locke from the outside, and that's it. Definitely more of a grab and go place, even though there is seating for 6-7.

I was hoping for at least good coffee, but alas. The coffee tasted burned and acrid. $2-3 is pretty standard for plain black coffee, and it's my go to order in NYC, but this was truly bad coffee. The croissant was heated on a griddle (how long was it at room temp before that??) and the American cheese was still unmelted and cold in spots, while the croissant was flattened to an inch thick and burned. Burned but cold lol. My order was about $7.50 for a 16-oz coffee and egg and...

Nickeled & Dimed, unpleasant service. Likely won't be back.

Was here once before with OK service, but had a very negative experience today. I asked for some oat milk on the side of my iced coffee, and the lady who made my drink literally frowned at me. The other lady came to pick up the oat milk container and made a point (very sassily) to tell me in a loud voice that "Next time, we''ll charge you for oat milk." Never seen a coffeeshop charge for non-dairy milk when you're just adding a bit to a straight coffee...and definitely never felt reprimanded for asking for it. Quite a rude/unpleasant start to the day.

Also just FYI: their prices are only decent if you're getting a small latte ($2). The large lattes are about the price of Starbucks or La Colombe ($4) but with a much smaller menu. They also charge for non-dairy milks on top of that for prepared drinks, which is unfortunately not...
