Dined here with a co-worker to celebrate her retirement and birthday. the food was delicious as it would be my second and LAST time dinning here. after eating dinner my co worker ordered coffee and as she went to grab a sugar packet, a roach ran across the table. Trying not to draw attention to other dining customers, we waved for the waiter to come over and told him what happen. he immediately apologized and removed the items from the table and goes to talk to a guy, who I assumed was a manager...thinking He'll come over and ask what happen, apologize, comp something on our bill, etc. Here's the part the brings me to the point of no return. in receiving and reviewing my bill, i see nothing was comped. so, I get up to ask our server about being comped and he directs me to the "Manager". as I approach him to inform him of what happen at our table, he starts screaming at me saying "what do you want me to do? It was in the sugar; It happens!" and proceeds to walk out of my face....(never uttered the word apologize) I so upset, I told him "thanks for the great customer service" NOT! So upset, I thought to not tip the server, which was quickly removed from my thought, as our server was outstanding! He felt so bad, he didn't want to take my tip as he knew we were celebrating two special events that night. I insisted that he take it, which he eventually did. So, come to find out the "manager" was none other than the Owner(the Elvis impersonator). this is the worst experience I've ever had with an owner/manager of a dining establishment. If he treats customers like this, I can only imagine how he treats his staff! Word of mouth goes along way and what he needs to know is...you never know who's patronizing your business. As he just lost out on a WHOLE lot of business and don't even it know it. Lots of other great choices to dine at, in the big city, that go above and beyond to make sure their customers are happy. that goes a long way in a business where you see restaurants shuttering everyday, due to high rents and competition. You wont last long, treating...
Read moreTruly authentic Italian cuisine! Definitely not a tourist trap, friends. (And I say this with twelve years in management positions within the Hospitality Industry; three of which were spent working at two different Italian-focused restaurants.)
My guests and I stumbled into Trattoria Casa Di Isacco on a whim while exploring the Hell's Kitchen area. We managed to get there right as lunch was ending and, none other than Isacco himself greeted us with such excitement and enthusiasm. His charisma and hospitality set the tone for a warm, wonderful lunch.
I ordered the stuffed artichoke and I literally gasped in awe after the first bite. It was incredible and so very flavorful. My guests ordered the chorizo, the calamari, and a bottle of Chianti. It is also worth noting the INCREDIBLE wine selection of Trattoria Casa Di Isacco. I mean hundreds upon hundreds of bottles line the walls, from 750ml bottles, to magnums, and beyond. This place is a wine-lover's dream! And, believe it or not, the wine is reasonably priced, too. Our bottle of Chianti was $35.00 and paired perfectly with each of our selections.
The character and authenticity of this place is can't-miss, friends. I assure you. While we organically stumbled into this establishment, we will CERTAINLY be returning. And a big "thank you" to Isacco for the kindness, the momentum, and the delicious...
Read moreI visited this restaurant by accident when trying to find a place for dinner on the way back Massachusetts from Texas. It was around 10 pm so we were the only diners in the restaurant. We order 2 special pasta (with different sauces) and a risotto with squid ink. The special pasta was quite expensive ($40 for basically just the seafood pasta + a half lobster) but it was delicious (except for the lobster part). The risotto was ok, not overcook but a little bit bland.
I love the deserts and how they decorate them. The Tartufo was ice cream with berries so it made me feel fresh after a long drive (from Maryland to NYC in that day). The spumoni was ice cream with 3 layers : chocolate, mint and strawberry. I hate mint flavor so I did not try this one.
At the end of the meal, we had a great talk with Issac - the owner and he gave us 2 bottle of the special wine of the restaurant and introduce the coming soon patio of the restaurant. I had great time here and definitely recommended this restaurant (not the special pasta).
Special note: At first, I liked the Elvis Presley decoration of the restaurant and I thought the owner is the fan of this famous singer. Then I took a closer look to the bottle he gave me and I realized that the singer in all decoration was Issac Elvis (the owner :)) ) but not Elvis Presley, which made me like it...
