A wonderful historic Roman Catholic church. Undergoing beautiful restoration (2019) The clergy and congregation's very warm and welcoming. The church gets many out-of-town visitors as the Port Authority Bus Terminal is right across 42nd Street. The famous "Father Duffy" World War 1 chaplain of the "fighting" 69th Infantry Regiment was the pastor of this church when he returned to America. In the 1940 movie The Fighting 69th, Father Duffy is portrayed by Pat O'Brien.

This is a beautiful catholic church nestled in midtown. The church itself is almost soundproof from the sounds of the streets. It is beautifully adorned with paintings of the crucifixion and antique stained glass that lets so many beautiful colors into the space. This church puts you in the mood for worship and reverence and I think it’s a good choice to check out whether you are visiting or looking for a local parish.

I was visiting from out of town and went to this church out of convenience but I had such a lovely time! Everyone was very welcoming, the priest had visitors stand and I got many individual welcomes from people afterward even when getting on the bus. The cantor had a stunning voice, the entire parish participated in the music and the priest gave a very kind and encouraging homily. The church itself is also very beautiful with lovely paintings and...

Great church. I had served here for about a year as a lector and minister of communion at the daily 730am mass before leaving the RCC to become an Evangelical Christian. The church is run by the Capuchin Franciscans who are a great bunch of people, and I feel reflect a more spiritual approach than a diocesan parish.
