The server didn’t give good service. He gave us the menu with options we can choose from the paper. When our food arrived, we realized he didn’t give us water to start/ask us what we would like to drink. We continued eating and waited for him to walk by. But he didn’t look our way the whole time we sat at booth A5 by the kitchen. The food runner came to our table to give us the rest of our food and I asked him if we can get some water. I’m paraphrasing what he said but he said something along the lines of “you’re fine” as in me and my friend is fine without water??? I was confused but he headed back towards the kitchen so I assumed maybe I heard wrong but he headed to the kitchen to grab more food for tables. I was hoping he at least told our server or another server that we needed water, he did not. Then finally our server came back when we were 75% finished with the first round and gave us the paper of our second round. I asked for water and he gave it to us as he picked up the paper for round 2. Unfortunately, because of our lack of water from the start, we quickly finished the water. As we started on round 2, we needed water again. We didn’t ask the food runner this time because of what happened the first time. We placed our water cups at the end of the table closest to the empty baskets that we finished, in hopes of someone (our server or whoever checks on us and our drinks) can pick up the baskets and see the empty cups next to it and take the hint to help us. Other people walked by and quickly picked up our empty baskets. A man came out from the kitchen and I tried to wave him over when we made eye contact but I saw another server grab the water pitcher to refill his tables waters and I quickly asked him for a refill ask he walked past. He helped us refill it. Then finally our server came, only to give us the paper for the final round. We continued eating. He came by to see if we wanted any more food for the third round. We haven’t thought of what to eat for the third and final round because for most of time we were there, we were worrying about how refreshing water is and how we need it to eat. I told him we need a minute (to discuss if we do) and he said it has to be right now so we just decided not to and just end our meal there, so we said no. He went away to do something and took the paper we didn’t use. He came back with the check and wrote “cash tip is appreciated :) thank you”. Not going to lie, I feel like getting good or at least decent service is appreciated at a restaurant where the AYCE price is $80 for the option without lobster. So I guess neither one of us is getting what we want. By the way, I didn’t get out of the booth to find someone to help because how dirty hands can get eating seafood and how uncomfortable I would be if I stood up to find someone to help refill my cup with dirty seafood hands and a little seafood bib tied around my neck.
I don’t ever give feedback to restaurants or places I visit but because of the cost of food plus the quality of service plus the way the server (the receipt said J was our server) got the audacity to thank me with a smiley face and ask for a cash tip when I literally, I feel like I didn’t enjoy my meal as much as I would have liked if I had water, so I gave him card tip.
But we did a walk in yesterday and we were seated quickly. so...
Read moreCrabhouse NYC is an absolute gem for seafood lovers, and it quickly became one of my favorite spots in Manhattan! We went for the $115 all-you-can-eat lobster option, and it was truly worth every penny. The variety and freshness of the seafood blew me away.
We started off with the lobster, which came out hot, perfectly drenched in some cajun sauce, full of tender, juicy meat. The crab legs were also a standout--fresh, succulent, and easy to crack, with the shells snapping perfectly, proving how fresh everything is. I was especially impressed with the scallops--they were buttery, tender, and cooked to perfection. They weren't overdone, which is a rarity at many places, and practically melted in your mouth.
Aside from the main seafood options, we tried some of the other offerings like shrimp and pan fried fish with sweet chili sauce. The shrimp was plump, seasoned just right with a great balance of flavors. The variety on the menu means there's something for everyone, but honestly, I focused mostly on the lobster and crab--because how often do you get unlimited of these?!
The atmosphere is also a big part of the experience. The boat-themed decor adds a fun, lively vibe, complete with wood paneling and nautical touches. It's a bit loud at times, but it just adds to the energy of the place. They provide bibs, which are absolutely necessary because things get messy--and that's part of the fun! Our server, (sorry forgot your name), was incredibly attentive, constantly bringing out more seafood without us even having to ask. He made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable, despite how busy the place gets.
Another thing to note is that if you're not in the mood for seafood, they offer other options like steak and bbq spareribs, but honestly, the seafood is where it's at! For sides, we tried the lobster mac, calamari , which were good but not the highlight of the meal--the main stars were definitely the seafood dishes.
If you're planning on going, I highly recommend making a reservation because this place fills up fast, especially on weekends. And don't forget to come hungry--trust me, you'll want to get the most out of the endless lobster and crab!
They have a birthday promotion on Tuesdays (birthday person + 3 full priced customers). Crabhouse NYC is perfect for big groups, celebrations, or if you just want to indulge in endless seafood. I'll definitely be back...
Read moreCame here for an early birthday celebration, wanted to try this location because I’ve been to the one in Brooklyn already. The place itself has two floors and is decorated beautifully, there’s a nice mirror and mini tree near the steps to take nice pictures. Disappointed with the quality of service, however. When I arrived on time, I was asked how many people would come, I said 8-10 only because some people may have not been able to make it. The host tells me I need an exact number so I tell him 10 and then he proceeds to say that we can’t be seated until every member of the party has arrived. That threw me off a bit because most places allow you to sit if half the party is there or at least a third. Not to mention, there were a whole bunch of people waiting in the lobby, very limited seating, or coat racks. When my guests finally arrived had to wait an additional 5 minutes because there was no host at the podium. When we were seated, I was dissatisfied because there wasn’t enough space for everyone. We had requested to be moved elsewhere or even move one of the empty tables and co-join it with the ones we had so that my guests and I would have enough space and not feel clustered. I feel as if they can allow reservations of certain party size then they should make sure they’ll be accommodated properly without a hassle, especially when we were leaving and I seen a round table with a private room and what seemed to be more space than what we were provided. The lady said no we couldn’t move the table. We continued to explain our reasoning and then she finally let us move the tables on our own. Though we waited a few minutes for our drink orders to be taken, the time the food and drinks arrived was fashionable, took us by surprise how fast the food came out. Our bill was pretty lengthy which is to be expected but I don’t like the fact that the server was begging and feeling entitled to tips. We were going to tip regardless. She left a guy to take our payments as there was multiple cards being used for the order. We were simply trying to explain how we needed the bill to be split and trying to make it simpler, instead of trying to work with us, she caught an attitude regarding her wanting tips and then walked away while the guy helped us. P.S. I don’t think you guys should charge for leftovers. If one location doesn’t, then the other shouldn’t.. then again, this...
