A Delightful Midtown Gem with Amazing Staff
There really aren’t enough nice things to say about this extraordinary hotel! Not only is the location ideal— centrally located near several restaurants, shops, sites of interest, and even a short stroll to Central Park, but also 2 blocks from an (E,M) subway station and 5 short blocks away from an (N,R,W) subway station. This makes getting to the hotel from LGA super simple with a total 35 minute trip on the currently free Q70-SBS LaGuardia Link +Select bus to Roosevelt Av/74 St and then the E subway from Jackson Hts - Roosevelt Av directly to two blocks from the hotel. Don’t miss out on this tip, as it’s a lot easier than you’d think and infinitely cheaper at just under $3 vs anything else you’d do. Entering the hotel is a full sensory experience! You leave the bustling NYC streets and are immediately enveloped into a haven of inspiring music and alluring aromas. The lobby area is cozy and clean, but opens to a spacious and convenient check-in/check-out counter, which is situated immediately across from the elevators. This layout and the super efficient check-in process makes it truly uncomplicated to get in from your journey to the hotel and be in your room in a matter of moments. The elevator requires key cards to access your appropriate floor, which adds to the effect of safety and security. While there are 37 floors in this hotel, the elevators are modern and fast, so it never took too long going up or down. The beauty of the layout or the floors is that there are only 4 suites per floor! It’s so divine to not be disturbed with lots of people running up and down the hallways while you’re enjoying the truly BEAUTIFUL rooms. There are so many options to choose from, but I spent my time in a 28th floor Premier King, which was 325 sq. ft or 30 sq. m of well appointed goodness! I had some critical criteria in my hotel selection for this particular visit and they nailed them all: King Bed (which is not easy for boutique or chain hotels to pull off in real estate challenged Manhattan); a desk for some work; solid free wifi; a large modern TV; huge windows with a spectacular view; couch (leather cushioned window bench in this case) seating; a mini refrigerator; Nespresso; air conditioning, noiseless walls/ceiling and a separate bathtub and shower! The ambiance in the room was stylish and comfortable— you’d easily feel like not leaving, which was the goal! However, when I did journey out for daily adventures, I was truly grateful for the convenient location and ease of transportation— subway, Uber, and walking. On the 4th floor, there was a well appointed business center and a solid gym with cardio and weight machines, free weight dumbbells, towels, water, AND a full bathroom with shower! While I didn’t use it, there was a cute restaurant right off the lobby. Truly you couldn’t ask for anything more or better, but they gave you more anyway! I saved the best for last. The primary reason this will be my GO TO NYC hotel from now on is the incredible staff! Seriously MAJOR kudos to the friendly and helpful staff that were on hand ALL THE TIME to help in any way possible. And they all genuinely cared about the guests. From the second I checked in to every time I walked in/out of the hotel, they remembered me and would take time to chat and see how I was enjoying my stay. When I left, it felt like I was saying goodbye to old friends! So, thank you tremendously Sandy, Kiara, Ivana, and Samuel— this hotel is ONLY as good as you are, and you are awesome! Do yourself a favor— do not pass on this hotel, but do save room...
Read moreI celebrated my birthday yesterday with family and instead of spending the evening home with kids, I wanted to experience a LUXURIOUS hotel stay in the city for once! After researching the top luxury hotels in the city, I decided upon the Concorde. From the reservation details and included photos during booking, I thought I would be getting exactly what I paid SO MUCH for in this hotel experience!
I was wrong and so extremely disappointed that I have to share.
Now let me just say, the staff were EXTREMELY kind and welcoming! I have no quarrels with how we were treated and want to highlight the customer service.
My main issue with the establishment is that the "luxury rooms" that are "bigger than most in the city" were not luxury at all. Our room, unlike the welcome party we were greeted by, was extremely PLAIN, uninviting, lacked charm or rather ANYTHING decorative (as portrayed in the pictures) and immediately made me question what exactly my hard earned money was going to! I booked this hotel on the premise that I would be immersed in the charm and ambiance that the photos displayed. There were no decorative pieces on the couch, on the bed, on the chaise, not in the windows, not the bathroom, not the living room, nor anywhere in the bedroom. I literally felt like I walked into a cold, colorless, empty cell. There was a pretty view; maybe that's where my money went? I don't know.
I even asked ahead of the reservation if there was anything extra the hotel could do to maybe commemorate my birthday (a bathrobe, slippers, a balloon, a card, a chocolate mint, ANYTHING really). I never heard back from the hotel regarding my request and was only acknowledged by the front desk receptionist who said 'Happy Birthday' when I checked in because she 'happened' to see the date on my license! smh.
I was aware the hotel did not have room service or breakfast included. I was okay with that and proactively arrived with food for myself for the evening and morning! After arriving in the room, however, we observed that there was not even a microwave in the room! A MICROWAVE!!! I've never stayed somewhere that didnt have a microwave. We called the front desk and were informed that there were unfortunately no microwaves in the ENTIRE building! 32 floors and NO microwave! So...after being disappointed in the overall LACK of ambiance, charm, and luxury in the room, and not receiving any effort toward my birthday or even making the room APPEAR touched by a human soul, we had to eat cold food for the rest of the night. smh
This is quite possibly one of the most unpleasurable hotel stays I've had and it truly shows that money doesnt always mean luxury. This was my birthday and it sucks that this was the experience that ended my night. I am a simple person, and the little things really do matter to me. I didn't need the WORLD, I didn't even expect the WORLD, but I could've stayed home, saved my funds, and probably gotten a better experience than what I was offered.
They said COVID was the reason that the rooms were 'stripped' of all the charm I was expecting. smh. That shouldn't be an excuse though. Whether you have 200 guests or 5 guests, quality should always be a priority...especially if you have no issues collecting people's money.
I tend to always look on the brighter side of things. And in spite of our increasing disappointment, we managed to remain upbeat throughout the night. However, I will never...
Read moreMy s/o and I spent two nights at the Concorde, and overall, and we would stay again. Planning to remotely work, we prioritized comfort and opted for the Ambassador Parlor at 580/night. Booking last minute (within 48 hours of check-in), afforded us significant discounts (25% off) by booking direct. While this deal was good, we found comparable, but slightly lesser discounts contingent on enrollment of Concorde's Insider newsletter (accessible on the website's navigation pane) however, with added benefits of priority early check-in* and complimentary room upgrades*. While the asterisks on these promotions weren't clearly outlined, we assumed these added benefits were subject to availability, which wasn’t always the case (at least at first). ||We arrived at 1:45 PM and were able to check-in immediately without any previous coordination. The Wi-Fi was reliable for work on Thursday and Friday, and upon connecting to Wi-Fi, an opportunity to provide initial feedback was offered. Providing objective feedback, I made note of the lack of transparency around the promotion's asterisks (unapparent on the sign-up form or the welcome letter) and the inaccessibility of the T&C, despite having to agree to them before finalizing the booking. ||Rada, the property manager, was quick to respond, promising that they would get this fixed. Whether the asterisk on the Insider newsletter promo means "subject to availability" or not, remains to be seen, but Rada was quick to respond to our feedback and offered us a room upgrade to the Ambassador Suite. While Rada's quick and comprehensive response to our initial feedback added greatly to our experience, the experience as a whole fell short of exceptional, which I feel necessary to award a 5 star review. ||Nonetheless, this is a great hotel. Highlights include its delicious and affordable on-site restaurant, its responsive management, and its well appointed decor. Further, the hotel's central, yet quiet location is unmatched -- we felt safe walking around at night, we had restful nights (albeit on the 37th floor), and we were privy to people-watching finance bros scoping out adjacent unoccupied offices. ||Of note, staffing shortages, likely attributable to broader industry-wide challenges, were apparent throughout our stay, e.g., limited room service availability, occasional front desk inaccessibility, and lack of a consistent doorman presence. Overall, these inconveniences didn't detract significantly from our stay, and I would still highly recommend this hotel for its unmatched combination of location,...
