New York | Japanese-style Brunch đŸ„ž SoufflĂ© Pancakes Take the Crown

I rarely give 5 stars across the board- this place deserves it. I had a 1 pm reservation for a party of 2 for two, my reservation was honored and I didn’t have any wait time. Not the most friendly/welcoming but that’s okay, they were swamped, parties constantly coming in to be seated and it was already full. Thankfully there were two people to assist with the process, but only one device to check the reservations so it was a tad slow. I opted for the bottomless unfortunately my date did not. However, it’s rare to find a brunch place that allows it without the entire table opting-in. The table next to us with a larger party also had someone not opt-in. I had the boozy iced coffee which was perfect, not uber sweet which I was happy for and the alcohol was pronounced. I then switched to the Bellini, I was skeptical due to the tiny size of the glasses but they are crafted perfectly for the size glass. Not your typical watered-down brunch Bellini. My waiter was nice and insisted I have a refill which actually made the bottomless option a worthwhile choice for me. The waiter was great, attentive and did not make any mistakes. Food- I’m not a big Eggs Benedict fan, I don’t like English muffins. But, I liked that this wasn’t a traditional preparation- it was served on a cheddar biscuit which appealed to me. I added the smoked salmon instead of the bacon. The portion-size was more than enough, I definitely couldn’t finish it all. Eggs were poached perfectly, the egg wasn’t too runny which was great and the fries were amazing (prepared how I’d expect in France), the menu stated they’d come with home fries (which I hate) so this was a pleasant surprise. The music is very more which was great for conversation and there are 3 unisex bathrooms, kept pretty clean form my experience so that was a plus. I’ll definitely be back 😊 great value, service and food.

American cuisine wrapped in a Balinese bow that’s cool AF. As soon as we walked into Amy’s we were greeted by tropical wallpaper, ratan lampshades, and the sound of a DJ smoothly transitioning from “Alors On Danse” to “Mundian To Bach Ke.” (The vibe was *chef’s kiss* đŸ€ŒđŸ») While we were originally seated at a high-top table, the hostess was considerate enough to ask us if we’d like to switch to a booth. As for our waitress, she was friendly, fast, and attentive. In other words, the service was top-notch. As for the food, everything that came out of the kitchen looked like it was ready to be photographed for a culinary magazine. I ordered the Nachos Fontaine with a Coke, and my fiancĂ© ordered the Standard Burger (which came with fries). Her burger and fries were nothing short of amazing. My nachos, though, were unopinionated. The jalapeños and guacamole were delicious, but the congealed mass of room-temperate cheese reminded me of my own perfunctory attempts to microwave nachos. Knowing Amy’s is a new restaurant, I wasn’t going to send back the ho-hum nachos. However, once I took a sip of Coke and realized it was devoid of carbonization, my opinion of my first meal here was ossified: it was underwhelming, hence the 4 star review instead of 5. Given this restaurant’s location, affordability, and vibes, I expect it’ll be packed every day this upcoming summer (once more people discover it). My fiancĂ© and me were debating whether or not to leave a review because anytime we find a unique restaurant like this, other people find out about it and we’re forced to make reservations weeks in advance.

I’d come on a Sunday for a bottomless brunch to celebrate a birthday and left positively starstruck with their omelette!

I’d gotten a Mushroom Omelette ($18) served with fries and while the fries were nothing to rave about, the omelette definitely is. The balance of gouda cheese, egg, & leek was perfect and as a mushroom-lover, the addition it made just made the meal so much better.

My party had gotten two WTF Waffle Sandwiches ($21/each) with fries but they weren’t anything spectacular. The chicken was very tough and dry while the waffle was way too sweet to find a good balance in each bite.

Bottomless brunch consisted of mimosas (pre-made & easiest for our waiter to refill), strawberry bellinis (premade & ditto), aperol spritz (made to order), & boozy iced coffee (made to order). The strawberry bellini was probably the best with the boozy iced coffee ranking last, but being able to experience so many different drinks was great! The glasses given for premade/refill drinks though had annoyingly run rather small, so it seemed like we were constantly troubling our waiter for a refill. Despite that, it was never left empty long & drinks made to order were out very quickly.

For dessert we’d gotten a Fried Brownie Sunday with a note about two birthday’s at the table and the birthday service was amazing (with a hilarious choice of song). The brownie was very rich and had a great balance with the ice cream, I would definitely recommend.

With just an avoidance to the WTF Waffle Sandwich (and maybe anything Chicken), I would definitely recommend this place for Brunch...
