So lets start from the very beginning a year ago onba hit summer day in Bklyn...Can't remember why we were drove out but it had to be for this place. My son who tries out every new place has to tell us about this place. Anyway we pull up and parking is waiting..A good sign already..lol. So we start our journey of a few feet & see this tremendously long line of all different nationalities nicely waiting & conversing laughing but just chilling out. We step up to the end & ask is this the line for Cuts & Slices...They respond with a big smile, "Yep, crazy right"! So we all laugh and join in..So glad it wasn't cold...So we also stood patiently & watched everyone come out all happy walking to thier cars to eat..Mind you the entire block is doubleparked.. So I manged to ask a customer about the infamous Oxtail Slice, they began to endorse this thing like it was gold!!! So now we all planning to get a slice & praying they don't run out because a few minutes into the line an employee comes out to say they are running out and asked how many wanted the Oxtails as they closed the line...That no one cared about folks continued to stay in hopes of getting a slice of something..lol..So we finally make it there and it was chaos inside...Staff screaming back & forth to bring items out orders flying in the air, but it was all good..They had things in order..So I hear a person say ,"Your order please" & we start with the Brownstewed Oxtail & Sweet Chilli Oxtails..But a we wait for our order some conversation takes place that ends up with a complimentary slice..Yeahššš So 3 Slices in our bag now... So we get our order & 2 Jamaican drinks pineapple & ginger & head for the car...All I know is that we wanted more but they really had none...That was the last...They didn't fail in tastes..So that was in Bklyn Today we visited the Houston location and they also was on point..Very cute spot & clean..Staff very nice...So here we go again wanting to try out each slice..But I'm a lover of seafood so I had the Lobster & Shrimp & hubby had the Oxtail again...But we happened to notice that the younglady serving us was also in Bklyn that first visit...Who is now the manager for this location..Very nice & great customer service We left very satisfied and you must try out that seafood slice Garlic Parm shrimp..Da Bomb!! Overall will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOkay let me just start out by saying that this isnāt just your normal New York Pizza place, this is a place you go to melt all your problems away,
who Knew that all the amazing delicious flavors of the Caribbean could be delivered in such an easy way!!! there was choices, between the jerk chicken slice, the sweet chili oxtail slice and the chopped cheese slices, I couldnāt decide, so I chose all three.
let me tell you my taste buds went to another level, I canāt even describe the feeling I thought I wasnāt going to be able to finish them I found myself trying to scoop up every last crumb, then as Iām eating some guy walks in, and is talking about how he needs as many sweet chili oxtail slices as he can get, for him and all his friends and the excitement in his eyes!!
Then what I can only describe as the soon to be the Gordon Ramsey of Caribbean style pizza, the owner walks in!! and he was there inspecting every pie making videos, there was an excitement and a passion to his voice, you can tell he really cares about what heās built, it was such an honor to meet him he was so nice I told him just how great his pizza was and he seemed very proud I wanted a picture with him since (heās a soon to be unreachably famous) so badly but was to shy!! Thatās my only regret that I didnāt ask him to take a picture with me
I told him how much his pizza made my day!! That said Iām trying hard not to laugh at the people in the other reviews who complained about the price
haha, do you guys not know how much a good oxtail by itself bone and all, not in pizza form, in crown heights costs?!? How about figure that out first, because this slice had way more than 13 dollars worth of oxtail on it, since it didnāt have the bone, like most places so to me that was a huge bargain!!
Also to the dude who said it was cold on here I almost burned my mouth trying to eat it so fast so what are you talking about?!?! Iām so excited for this place!! and their future!! I looked them up and saw they have 3 locations now!! And itās so obvious why with this level of attention to detail and quality itās only a matter of time before they have more locations...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCombining Jamaican staples like oxtail, jerk chicken, and curry shrimp with cheesy bread isn't exactly new. Many upper-scale Caribbean restaurants are offering flatbreads with this combination in mind. What Cuts and Slices is doing, however, is taking this concept to its furthest extreme, presenting them in New York-style by-the-slice pizza pies in a firmly casual atmosphere. They offer more typical Italian-American varieties as well, but people are lining up for the fusion slices, the stuff many of us dreamed of making ourselves ā and some have, gathering components two different restaurants while under inspiration of sensimilla ā but few of us have had the guts to do.
The oxtails pieces are the star of the show, and the indulgence will run you a good $14 a slice. Is it worth it? The devil is in the details, and the details are where Cuts and Slices shines. The unctuous oxtail, deboned and pulled into a flavorful topping, coats a bed of fresh-tasting cheese that's perfectly warmed to the right amount of meltyness, and a delightfully crispy, airy crust. Savor it slowly. I was pleased.
I had the plain "brown-stew" oxtail slice and the sweet chili variant, which ads just a little zing if you require it, though you shouldn't. I look forward to trying more of what this place has to offer.
And some credit should be given to their courteous, friendly, and speedy service, not to mention the selection of classic 90s hip-hop, R&B, and reggae, which give you a sense of where the restauranteurs are coming from. There is signage with notes about the food written in an idiosyncratic voice. Even though this is a mini-chain, it's not a cynical, Disneyfied experience that beats the customer over the head. They have a direct-to-customer brand that feels more like Xian Famous Foods; they know the NYC landscape.
All that to say, this is an establishment that you want to root for. I will be returning to eat jerk chicken on a pizza and...
