This hotel offered a great view of the city and was in a great location for navigating the SOHO area. It was also only a 20ish minute Uber from Times Square and the Upper East side. Across the street is an Insomnia Cookies location, several bars on the corner, and lots of shops within short walking distance. The view, depending on room orientation, was perfect, with a clear shot of the Empire State Building. The amenities themselves are where I dock a star. At times, the entire hotel, according to staff, was out of toilet paper. While not the biggest deal, it is something I didn’t expect a hotel to have an issue with. Also, the elevator likely needs servicing as well. On one particular day, the whole thing had to be reset, keeping customers from using it. For me, this resulted in a 9 flight climb. And at the time, there were people checking in and out, having to lug their bags up and down the stairs. Again, these are relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, but they still detracted a bit from the stay. Overall though, I fully recommend staying here if you need a more inexpensive hotel, all the while still having access to lots of local restaurants and shops. Attached are pictures of the view my room had.

Pros: friendly staff, amazing location and views Cons: the shower was gross. There was a big pube on the wall, and the grout had a thick slime of pink mold, so you know that shower hadn't been cleaned properly in awhile. I don't blame housekeeping, that sort of thing comes down on management. Understaffed, underpaid, I don't know. The rest of the room wasn't as filthy (a bit dusty, and the floors could have used a wash) but I might have stayed had the shower not been so gross. This hotel is BUDGET (see list below). Stay at the Pod Hotel in Brooklyn for less money and way nicer accomodations. Usually I wouldn't complain about bare bones rooms, but I'm pretty annoyed about the hassle and expense of having to cancel the rest of my stay and move to a different hotel. So here is everything else subpar about the room: No reading light No shampoo (though they provided shower gel, conditioner, and lotion) No hand soap at sink No washcloths or hand towels No bathmat Light over bathroom sink out Cheap, shabby furniture

I was a guest at this hotel at the end of April 2023 for two nights. This visit has been one of the most stressful, difficult, and maddening experiences in a place of business.

On the afternoon of April 26th, the elevator broke for an extended amount of time. As my coworker and I attempted to return our rooms and pressed the elevator button a few times, the desk attendant flippantly shared that the elevator is broken and that they didn't know when it would be fixed. So, after hours of physically taxing work, my coworker and I walked up several flights of stairs to reach our rooms. We're very lucky neither of us have mobility limitations. Otherwise, we might have been trapped in the lobby for hours until they fixed it.

When I got to my room, one of the cleaners was in the doorway, and since we do not share a language, I struggled to ask her in Spanish if everything was ok and she said the room was fine and ready.

Additionally, when I attempted to take a shower that night, I realized I had no hot water. I decided to call down to front desk, but my room phone wasn't working at all, so I got re-dressed and went downstairs. They basically said sorry and there's nothing they can do. They said the water is an ongoing problem. While I was at the desk, another guest overheard us and asked if we were talking about hot water because they didn't have any, either. Their room is next door to mine.

Neither my phone nor my water situation improved the next day. The evening of April 27th, I talked to the night manager and requested a hotel voucher to makeup for my challenging stay here. He said he would bring it up in a staff meeting on Friday, but could not authorize that himself.

On April 28th, around 9:30 am, a cleaner tried to come into my room (thankfully, I'd locked it). Then I heard banging on my door. In my pajamas (because I was laying in bed), I went to the door as summoned. It was people from the front desk saying they thought I already checked out. I was very confused because I'm standing there in pajamas with clothing obviously not packed, then tell them I haven't. Then they shared that "our night manger informed us you already checked out". And I'm just staring at them and I'm like, "I didn't." Then they offered a weak "sorry" and said I could check out at noon instead of 11 and they walked away. I had no need to extend my checkout as I had an early afternoon flight.

Now anxious, I pack and leave my room to check out. While I was at the desk, I asked for a senior manager to talk to and expressed that I need a two night voucher to make up for the terrible accommodations I endured for the two nights during my stay. The attendant said they can't because we booked through a third party and the hotel doesn't have my information. I was very confused by that since not only did you take a copy of my license, but I'd also given my name, address, email address, and phone number to the night manager hours earlier.

I attempted to contact the Operations Manager, Sharina Vargas, but received no response. Stay at...

BEDBUGS!!!

Was booked into this hotel by a business I have a contract with and I haven’t had a worse experience in a hotel in a decade or more.

Walked in to find to people sleeping in the back lobby area. Not a good start. The person who was in the room before me checked out late so I had to wait in my car. When I did get into the room although it looked clean, it had a smell immediately upon entering that was a combination between body odor and old urine. I inspected the room and it looked clean so I decided it must be my imagination but went back to my car and got Lysol and a few things to clean it myself.

The room was tiny. There’s a sink immediately inside the door and a toilet and shower behind a sliding door. The room in so small that there isn’t 12 inches of clearance around the double bed. Had to crawl across the bed to close the shade. You literally couldn’t walk around it. I’m not a big person. 5’ 2” 130 pounds. This shouldn’t have been challenging.

Left to go to dinner and got back to loud racket from the street noise below including a drum corp or marching band. And of course the cliche screaming, sex sounds coming through the wall next door. Given the neighborhood and the prices on display, I am pretty certain the person next door was a sex worker who probably rented the room for work purposes.

Couldn’t fall asleep until well past midnight, and had to turn on the TV to drown out the noise. Woke up before my alarm because I was itching (of course) only to see telltale tiny red dots on the white sheets that were clean when I got into it, that was of course my blood. When I finally passed out I was clearly a meal for whatever bedbugs.

I got up showered, dressed and left the room. Went downstairs and the coffee and breakfast they talk about is a filthy lie. There was a pot on a burner to stay warm that was burnt and there was no breakfast.

Do not on pain of death book this hotel unless you truly have no place to go. You get what you pay for and there’s no such thing as a hotel in Manhattan that’s less than $300 a night that isn’t a...

Good and bad.

The staff members were very friendly. The room was clean (the first night.) I liked the location. The room size was small but not by New York standards. All the utilities and equipment worked.

Arrived at 2:05 PM and was told my room was ready but that checking in before 3:00 PM incurred a $50.00 "early check in" fee.

I decided to wait it out in the lobby but was not made to wait the entire hour. When I got to the room. The shades were all up and the windows were open. There was a half finished bottle of water on the sill and the thermostat read 84°. I closed the windows and most of the blinds (one blind wouldn't go down all the way.) I cranked the AC for 30 minutes but the temperature did not get any lower so I took all my luggage back downstairs in hope of getting another room.

Rather than giving me another room they asked me to wait in the lobby while they tried to repair the A/C. Waited 30 minutes for the technician to arrive and another 30 minutes for him to work on it. After the technician spoke to the front desk they gave me a second room. Both the technician and front desk were apologetic about the issue.

New room (703) was cool and the bed was comfortable. The furnishings were dorm-like but clean and in good repair. There was a tapping behind the wall near the door that sounded like maybe pipes or a water drip, I couldn't tell. It came on and off my entire stay but I'm a sound sleeper so it didn't keep me up.

The next night I got back to my room late around 11:00 PM and was disappointed to see that it had not been cleaned, (bed not made, no new towels, etc.) Fortunately, I still had one towel and one bottle of shampoo left so I wasn't terribly inconvenienced.

During my extended time in the lobby I heard several guests talk about deals they had from various booking sites. If you can get such a deal and are okay with a nice two-star hotel then I think this will do the job for you. If you pay full price and expect a three-star hotel, you might be...
