We visited NYC just for one day and we wanted to try out this place based on my research and how popular clinton st baking company pancakes were based of the youtube video from FOOD INSIDER.
We did not have any reservations available online, so we had to walk in and it was on Wednesday around 11am , being a mid week mid day , I was surprised how busy this place was. We waited for 30mins before we got our table. The receptionist was welcoming and happy going , where as one of the waitress who waited our table seemed to be busy and was not so much welcoming.
We have ordered Spanish Scramble and Chocolate Chunk Pancakes. The Spanish Scramble was delicious , with mashed hash browns and bread toast on the side. I was amazed with the omelette and mashed hash, it was light , perfectly balanced with veggies and cheese. We asked for hot sauce on the side which enhanced the flavor even more. However their toast were not great, it would be nice to have some good toast along with the omlette.
I so wanted to try the blueberry pancakes based of food insider however my love for chocolate made me choose the chocolate chunk pancake & it did not disappoint me. These were the best pancakes I have ever had in my life so far. The pancakes were so fluffy and cooked to perfection with chocolate chunks in the batter. The maple syrup , wow trying something like this was so heavenly, the buttery flavor of maple syrup along with its silky texture, subtle sweetness and rich flavor takes the cake. These pancakes and maple syrup are truly the match made in heaven. The only thing which was a bit disappointing is that we had to pay extra to get extra maple syrup.
Next time I really would love to try their blueberry pancakes.
Definitely recommend this place in NYC if you want to have one of the best...
Read moreYou know how you wanna try a place and you're like, "uh uh, why are they so busy on a Monday? I'm too fine to stand in line!" and then you're like, "who am I kidding lemme wait these 45 minutes."?
Bay-bee!!
I'm glad I waited those 45 minutes.
Now, I'm nowhere near a native New Yorker or even adjacent, but I'd never heard of this place, and couldn't understand why it was so doggone busy! on a Monday at noon!
Maybe they were on one of those Food Network shows or something, and if they weren't, they SHOULD BE!
This place is nothing short of excellent. I mean, nothing short. Not even half kidding.
Even the host at the door was incredibly pleasant and working the line and the attitudes of those waiting. The smells made my mouth water. It was packed and everyone looked to be enjoying themselves, and I see why.
First off, while the seating was relatively small for someone of my stature, hey, it's Manhattan. You've gotta expect that, eh? But the food alone made up for all of that. The food was so good that I forgot our server's name. Lol.
I had the chocolate chunk pancakes (hence my pancakes potentially looking unsavory, give them grace). Listen! These were THE BEST pancakes I have ever tasted. Not even kidding. The bread was THROUGH; no hint of a dough. If you had told me this was bread instead of pancakes I'd believe you. I eat A LOT and these things were HEAVEN. I ALMOST ordered three more to go. Plus the syrup; I think the server said it was a maple syrup and butter combo (I hope I'm not spilling a secret) and it was giving dulce caramel vibes. Soooooo good.
The eggs were great. The bacon was great. My bellini was great. But them pancakes tho!!!!
I promise you I will be back and won't mind a wait if need be. Because LISTEN!...
Read moreIn 2017, tried the no wait app for the first time and it worked great, when we were in the taxi and within 1 mile, the no wait app allowed us to get in line, we had to check in when we arrived, and we were seated 15 to 20 minutes, enjoyed the French toast, sugar (cured) bacon, scrambled eggs, 2 eggs sunny side up, hash browns, pancakes (chocolate chunk), maple butter and the freshly squeezed orange juice. Did not like the fried green tomatoes and the sausage (pork) patties.
In 2016, I said, wow it worked out better for us this year. Immediately upon arrival in New York City, we caught a cab to this restaurant, went in the door (new/additional dining area opened in January 2016), told the hostess our name and group size, gave our phone number, she said it may be a 45 minute wait, but 15 minutes later, we received a text message saying that our table is ready. They told us to go to the bakery (older/original dining area), and they will seat us there. Hostess seated us in the bakery some minutes later at the same table we had last year (near the window), love that! We ordered French toast, sugar cured bacon, egg Benedict, orange juice and lemonade. As always, food and service were excellent!
In 2015, I said, It is worth the wait!!! My wife and I had French Toast that comes with warm maple butter; it was the best tasting French toast we ever had! The sugar cured bacon was really good, too! We also loved the freshly squeezed orange juice (that had NO PULP)! We walked in, asked to be seated, they told us that we had to wait for 1 hour and 35 minutes, but we waited, enjoyed the meal, the hostess, waitress, and bus help as well. All of that is why it was well...
