We spent three nights (March 2025) in a Skybox Loft room - cosy and nicely appointed, quite compact though.
The hotel is conveniently located within a short stroll from several subway lines. The surrounding area is packed with a variety of restaurants and some really great bars, so you are never short on dining or evening options.
Check-in was disappointing. Arriving just after 3pm (the official check-in time) we were told our room was not ready and that the staff would take our luggage up while we waited at the bar. They said the room would be ready in 10-15 minutes and they would let us know. An hour later, having received no updates we returned to reception to finally get keys to the room, and collect our luggage to take it up… So they had a shift change and no communication between the teams about us waiting. Given the delay and the promise that went unfulfilled, a complimentary drink at the bar would have been the bare minimum, especially when you just want to get to your room after a long flight at the official time of check-in.
Mid-stay, we discovered a notice on our bed warning that boiler maintenance would cut hot water from midnight to 8am. Unfortunately, as expected, there was no hot water at 7am when we were getting ready for the day - quite a major inconvenience, especially when paying over $500 per night for a fully functional room. We had a schedule to stick to, and a cold shower was not part of it. Additionally, the shower’s temperature dial was faulty, and we had to prop it up just to maintain a comfortable temperature.
In summary, nice décor and good location, with vibrant dining and bar options nearby. However, service missteps and amenity issues kept this stay from feeling seamless.

Read moreThe Ludlow was a splurge for our couples getaway to NYC and it did not disappoint. I reached out prior to booking to ensure that if I reserved a Skybox Loft it would have views of the 4th of July fireworks. Staff was very responsive via email and helpful in making that decision. We could have had a great view from our room, unfortunately the city decided to launch them from the Hudson River this year instead of the East River (for the first time in over a decade and they didn't announce it until a week before!). However, the Ludlow has a fabulous rooftop lounge for guests only that provided excellent views. HIGHLY recommend taking a drink or two up to the rooftop to watch the sun set.
The room felt very luxurious compared to our simple midwest standards. The tub was one of the main features we were looking forward to and my husband and I could both easily fit. The front desk provided a lovely bottle of bubble bath and bath salts upon request. Bathrobes were soft and cozy. I typically can't stand hotel beds, but this one was comfortable.
Location was ideal for us. Quick and easy access to the subway (we were visiting Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island and the 9/11 Museum these days). Lots of good eats nearby. We had tasty smashburgers at Gotham City Social Club down the street and Scarr's Pizza was also delicious and just down the street. While we didn't hit up Katz or Russ and Daughters, we know they are also staples steps from the hotel. It was nice to come back to our neighborhood after a long day of exploring and have excellent food options close by.
They held our bags securely at the front desk the day of check out until we were ready to head to the airport. I would 100% reccommend the Ludlow based our...
Read moreWe cannot be happier with our stay at the Ludlow! This will be our only pick when staying in NYC from now on.
Service: From the email responses, check-in, housekeeping, the restaurant (on Mother’s Day of all days) to check-out, the staff exceeded all expectations. I would like to give a special thank you to the housekeeping staff who we so friendly.
Room – King Studio: The room was well appointed and very comfortable. It was approx. 250 sq. Ft and had lots of room to move around. The bathroom shower is one you never want to leave and if you you’re that kind of person you can show off your goods to lower Manhattan through the large window. You can also keep the curtain closed if you’re a little more modest. The bed and pillows were super premium with a bed being a little on the soft side. There was a large wardrobe and plenty of hangers. There is a fully stocked bar fridge and some snacks for a fee.
Check-in/out: Very fast and friendly. Check-out is also at noon which is rare, and they have no issues letting you check-out a little later if there is availability.
Restaurant: We only had Sunday brunch which I’m not sure if it’s only on Sunday or special for Mother’s Day but it’s easily the best brunch ever! Gluten free was not an issue.
Views: We were on the 13th floor (1311) and were located on the corner which allowed for a stunning view of the city.
AMEX Platinum: We are Platinum member’s, and this gave us a room upgrade (based on availability) and $75 credit to spend in amenities which paid for brunch. We’re happy with these benefits and would highly recommend this card for just that reason alone.
Extras: As this was a special wedding anniversary weekend we were treated to a complimentary bottle of...
