March 2021 update The cheesy egg gougere is back on the menu, thank heavens. And the salted caramel chocolate chip cookie rivals any cookie around, maybe even including Levain.
Fall 2020 outdoor dining Sadly they’ve reduced their menu for Covid so they don’t do gougeres and the crullers sell out a day in advance, but mostly I’m just happy they’re open! The BEC is the happiest kind of messy breakfast, and they have a good amount of outdoor seating.
Fall 2019 opening Now I understand the hype. Only took one bite of the maple-apple cruller to see why people were so pumped for this to open on the UWS. Beautiful space, most delicious and unique pastry I’ve had in a long time (can’t wait to go back and try other 2 cruller flavors, original and cinnamon sugar), and decent coffee, freshly brewed when I arrived since they were running out so fast. Line was long on a weekday morning but it’s their first week in business so maybe things will calm down. Decent amount of high top and low top tables for seating, but pretty crowded. Welcome to the UWS, DP!
Update: the breakfast gougeres (flaky biscuit stuffed with an egg and cheese mixture) are divine, get the Green Eggs...
Read moreI love Daily Provisions and order delivery from this location so often it's actually a little weird. Food is always good! I can't place an order from here without getting a cold brew and a blueberry muffin, the patty melt and tuna melt are so good, the chefy salad is perfect, and the breakfast sandwiches are great.
The only thing is that about 9/10 times I order, they do not include a straw for my iced coffee or a hot sauce for my breakfast sandwich. Tbh, they probably only send the hot sauce once out of every 20 orders (I really order from here a disturbing amount).
Whatever, the heart wants what the heart wants. But PLEASE start sending straws!! And maybe let me order a cruller online? :)
EDIT: I don't know if this location got a new baker or lost a manager or something in the last 5-6 months, but the muffins are always really dense and hard to eat in a way that is somehow both sticky and dry?? Still rarely receive straws or hot sauce, but they almost always forget some major part of my order now. It's honestly for the best, because I've stopped ordering from here as much as I used to... but I really do miss what...
Read moreThough I like the location and the seating by the windows facing out to the sidewalk, I'm not a fan of this place.
Ordered a tea, coffee drink, and breakfast dishes. They forgot about the tea, which I found out after everything else arrived (after quite a wait) and still no tea. When ordering, my questions about the menu were met with disinterest. The food made me quite sick, and I tried reaching them via phone after the fact, and calling the location number didn't actually get me through to any person. Though I did finally get a call back from someone on the team there and he was very helpful, it was 2 days after I had initially tried to get ahold of them.
I had been to the Gramercy location years ago and had a nice experience, but this location isn't one I'd return with the current service and menu.
Things that would increase their star rating, in my opinion: Improve customer service. Get the orders right. Clearly label allergens or have a menu available that includes this labeling. Make it a bit easier to contact someone there (or otherwise on the...
